We’ve seen this dog and pony show so many times. @Republicans@GOP gubernatorial candidates and Congressional candidates are once again backing away from @realDonaldTrump because of his tanking numbers hoping the American people will see this and trust them and reelect them and once they’re reelected they go right back to @POTUS
We cannot keep being told to “move on” from history when echoes of that history are still costing Black lives today.
We are expected to heal from wounds that society has never fully stopped inflicting. We are told the past is the past, while Black families are still having conversations about how to survive encounters, how to protect our children, and how to navigate a world where our humanity can still be questioned, feared, or treated as less valuable.
This is bigger than anger.
It is exhaustion.
It is grief.
It is frustration.
And for many of us, it is personal.
As I watched this video, something hit me: I have witnessed versions of this happen more than a dozen times in my own lifetime.
Not in a history book.
Not in some distant generation.
In my lifetime.
And yet, here we are—still having many of the same conversations. Still asking whether our communities are adequately protected. Still fighting to be respected, valued, heard, and treated with the same dignity afforded to everyone else.
Generations before us marched, protested, organized, bled, and died demanding that this country recognize our humanity. And generations later, Black parents are still having conversations with their children about how to make it home safely.
That should trouble all of us.
Because our value cannot only be recognized when our votes are needed. Our voices, our families, our safety, our dreams, and our lives matter before Election Day, on Election Day, and every single day after it.
So no—we cannot simply “move on.”
How can America expect Black people to move on from something we can still recognize in our own lifetime?
And maybe the even harder question is:
How many more times does it have to happen before we stop calling it history and start confronting the fact that there is still work left to do?
That is the conversation we need to be willing to have.
The @pbcsd has cut 244 positions, including 214 teacher positions. Teachers are facing uncertainty and mounting pressure, while their paychecks still aren’t keeping up with the cost of living.
Our educators deserve more than praise when budgets get tight. They deserve the staff, classroom support, and pay they need to do their jobs and support their own families.
Florida’s Legislature needs to get off its ass and act. Fund our public schools. Pay teachers fairly. Stop leaving educators and students to carry the burden
#PayOurTeachers #Teachers #PalmBeachCounty
I have serious questions about @SenMcConnell’s ability to continue serving after his lengthy health-related absence. I want to know whether the people around him are putting his well-being first.
In Florida, a grand jury found that the DeSantis administration misappropriated $10 million connected to Hope Florida, a foundation tied to @CaseyDeSantis. No criminal charges were filed, but Floridians deserve answers from @GovRonDeSantis and @AshleyMoodyFL about what happened and who was responsible.
And @ByronDonalds? From where I stand, he’s doing damage to his own campaign.
Public office is a responsibility. The public deserves honesty and accountability.
This is a conversation we need to have. We can’t support someone just because they’re black.
What are your values? What do you stand for? And @ByronDonalds is not the one we need to support.
If Black people in Florida are being told to vote for BYRON DONALDS just because he is Black🤔
That we never support our own and he is one of us
THEN WHY DID BYRON NOT SUPPORT KAMALA HARRIS SHE IS BLACK 🧐 I’ll wait ⏳
@NikkiBarnes@ByronDonalds what the hell does Price Transparency going to do when people can barely afford their premium? Oh I’m gonna show you what you’re paying for but not lower the prices to make it easier for you. I call bullshit on this sir and I mean that with NO RESPECT
Thank you for your nearly 20 years of service and dedication to Democratic politics in Florida. Remaining committed through both victories and difficult seasons is worthy of recognition and respect.
I also believe there is room for us to listen to the experiences of newer candidates, organizers, and community leaders. Some of us have encountered challenges with communication, coordination, and access to support—particularly here in Palm Beach County.
Sharing those concerns is not meant to diminish the work that has already been done. It comes from a sincere desire to better understand the process and help strengthen our party moving forward.
Candidates are being asked to organize, raise money, recruit volunteers, and connect with voters. Clear guidance, consistent communication, mentorship, and fair access to resources would help more candidates carry out that work effectively.
Those who have years of experience possess valuable knowledge that emerging leaders genuinely need. I hope we can create more opportunities for that knowledge to be shared and for new voices to feel welcomed, heard, and supported.
I am committed to doing my part. I also hope we can have honest and respectful conversations about where improvements may be needed. Appreciating past service and seeking greater transparency, organization, and support can exist together.
Florida Democrats will be strongest when experienced leaders and emerging voices work side by side—listening to one another, learning from one another, and building together.
So let’s talk about how these @Republicans hate immigrants so much, but yet majority of them either come from immigrants or they’re married to immigrants. Case in point @JDVance and @POTUS even mummy-man @SenMcConnell
You mean to tell me people are leaving the Republican Party/MAGA because of gas prices but not because of the President who is a known rapist and pedophile or the bad governing decisions.
Help me understand this? !?!
Let’s get something straight: I support the progress of Florida, and I will support candidates who are authentic, honest, and prepared to lead. What I will not do is blindly support someone simply because party leaders or political insiders tell me to.
Elizabeth Holmes has reportedly told people that she spoke with me and demanded that I withdraw from the House District 94 race. That is not true. Elizabeth and I had only one conversation, and it occurred after I had already withdrawn because of personal family matters. She texted me, briefly expressed her condolences, and then asked me to work on her campaign.
I have also heard troubling claims about how and why she entered this race. Elizabeth deserves the opportunity to address those claims herself—but I will not remain silent while inaccurate stories are told about me.
More importantly, District 94 deserves more than a slogan.
Saying, “We need someone who will fight for us in Tallahassee, so let’s send a teacher to Tallahassee,” is not a governing plan. Being a teacher may provide valuable experience, but voters still deserve clear answers:
What is your plan to increase teacher pay?
How will you protect public-school employees and improve classroom conditions?
What will you do about housing, healthcare, insurance, and the rising cost of living?
What is your plan for Black communities and historically neglected neighborhoods?
How will you serve the families living in Belle Glade’s underserved communities—not only the polished and politically convenient parts of the district?
If you are asking people to elect you, you must demonstrate that you understand the entire district—not just the establishment, major donors, or communities that are comfortable to visit.
I have spoken with people across District 94: working families, educators, struggling residents, community leaders, business owners, and people who have been ignored by the political system. They are not asking for another catchy slogan. They are asking for leadership with a credible, detailed, and achievable plan.
Elizabeth may have genuine passion for education, and that passion could make her a strong candidate for the School Board. But a seat in the Florida Legislature requires a comprehensive vision for every community and every major issue affecting this district.
This is not personal. This is about accountability.
I will not lead my family, my community, or the people who trust my voice to support a candidate merely because she has the approval of political insiders. My support must be earned through honesty, authenticity, accessibility, and a viable plan to improve people’s lives.
So, Elizabeth, the people of District 94 deserve to hear more than why you want the position.
Show us that you understand the position.
Show us your plan.
Show us what makes you different.
And above all, tell the truth.
Agreed. I 100% agree with this but at the same time we also have to correct some of the foolishness and please excuse my French a lot of the bullshit that has been happening in Palm Beach County. I will lead an army to war for the Democratic Party but not for candidates that will keep us bond
@NikkiBarnes@NikkiFried@rolandsmartin@JoeNBC@Morning_Joe Love everything about you, I’ve been following you for a minute. But I am involved in the intended community I am running in. But I WILL NOT support nor stomp or go for Elizabeth Holmes. In fact I am totally against her for this position.
But our major issue in Palm Beach County that causes me to speak out and I will tell this exact same thing to every news network I will be speaking with soon that the black community does not feel heard or seen especially when you have DEC and state leaders interfering in campaigns
