The term "political Islam" is misleading and trivializes Islam, as if there were a non-political version of it. Unfortunately, this is not the case, which distinguishes the religion founded by the prophet, politician, and warrior Mohammed from all others. Wherever Islam is present, there is also the demand for the implementation of Islamic law, which, unfortunately, in many respects stands in irreconcilable opposition to our Western constitutions and hard-won freedoms.

There is only one consciousness. Not in the sense of a divine spirit in which we mortals partake during our lifetime. Rather, it is that every consciousness, every moment of awareness, feels and — being existentially a perception — is the same. Just as the consciousness of an individual under general anesthesia suddenly ceases to exist and then, after hours of the darkest mental nothingness, awakens again as the same, is experienced as the same, and is indeed the same, so is the consciousness of every other human being — dead, alive, or yet to be born — the same as mine. And more than that. It is mine. This consciousness should not be confused with the individual mind, which is filled with content through personal experiences over a lifetime. The mind is a product limited by space and time, yet it exists eternally and indestructibly as an indispensable building block of the holochronic unity of the universe. Consciousness itself, however, is a process of witnessed awareness, which the universe appears to be capable of during its complex phases. As a result, it must occur repeatedly — here and now, but also in other places and at other times — supported by different organic carriers, and, as explained above, is fundamentally always the same. So, my consciousness is the consciousness this universe is capable of. It is the same as yours and that of any other being. It is, of course, limited by its inherent subject-object relation with the world, and by the resulting illusion of being a separate self, but it is existentially always the same and forever one.
