Namibia’s national men’s tennis team suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to Burundi at the Davis Cup Africa Group III qualifiers in Bujumbura today.
Codie van Schalkwyk lost the opening singles match 6-3, 6-2 to Allan Gatoto of Burundi, but Connor van Schalkwyk drew Namibia level when he beat Guy Iradukunda 6-4, 6-3 in the second singles match.
Burundi, however, won the tie 2-1 when Gatoto and Iradukunda beat the Van Schalkwyk brothers 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 in the doubles .
