Three arrested in Gauteng explosives operation:
Three Zimbabwean nationals, two men and a woman, were arrested in Matholesville, Roodepoort, after an intelligence-driven operation uncovered explosives allegedly linked to ATM bombings, cash-in-transit robberies and illegal mining.
Police and private security teams recovered:
88 safety fuses
62 blasting cartridges
About 400 metres of detonating cord
Explosives valued at approximately R160,000.
A white Toyota Etios with false registration plates was also seized.
The suspects face charges of possession of explosives and are expected to appear in court.
Investigations are continuing to determine whether they are connected to other ATM bombings, CIT robberies and illegal mining activities.

On Thursday, 27/08, Gauteng police conducted an intelligence-driven operation in De Deur, Sedibeng District, resulting in the arrest of five suspects, aged between 29 and 68, and the discovery of a hydroponic dagga laboratory valued at more than R1 million.
During the operation, police recovered a .303 rifle and a 9mm Glock pistol.
The suspects are facing charges relating to contraventions of Sections 3 and 5(b) of the Drug Trafficking Act 140 of 1992. Two of the five suspects are also facing additional charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
The suspects comprise two Jamaican nationals, two Malawian nationals and one Lesotho national.
The suspects are expected to appear before the Meyerton Magistrate’s Court soon.

Four suspected railway cable thieves were arrested in Hartbeespoort after security officers tracked their vehicle and coordinated an interception on the R511 at Meerhof.
The suspects, comprising three men and a woman, are all Zimbabwean nationals and are believed to be linked to railway infrastructure and cable theft in Rustenburg. Security officers intercepted the vehicle following the tracking operation.
A search recovered cash, heavy-duty bolt cutters and industrial work gear. The four suspects were handed over to police for further investigation. No further details were provided about the circumstances surrounding the alleged thefts or the identities of the suspects.
