Bodmin Keep needs urgent preservation work which means we are temporarily closing the museum from Saturday 10 August. We apologise for any disruption to your plans this may cause and look forward to seeing you soon.
Our volunteers are working busily to catalogue the regular flow of items that are kindly donated to Bodmin Keep. This week, our collections volunteer Val Marshall accessioned a scrapbook chronicling the Army’s deployment in Belfast during the early period of The Troubles.
Here's a tasty treat from our archive! This recipe book was compiled by William Kent, a Cornishman who served as a field cook in WW2. Our student intern Emily Brown baked a fruit cake from this book which is as good as it looks!
Thank you to volunteers Megan and Lily for decorating our Christmas tree this week, with their beautiful handmade soldiers.
Our tree is on display at St.Petroc's Christmas Tree Festival which is open everyday (except Sunday) 10.30am- 4.30pm.
80 years ago the 5th Battalion Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry fought in one of WW2's fiercest battles in North West Europe. Anthony Adams took part in the Battle of Hoven Wood, Nov 1944 and was awarded the Military Medal for gallantry.

Thank you to everyone who braved the weather this week to retrace the steps of the thousands of British and American servicemen based at Bodmin in WWII. The donations raised from these walking tours will help secure the future of our museum and collection for future generations.
We are delighted to have been awarded an @Aimuseums and @ThePilgrimTrust Collections Care grant. This will fund conservation-grade packing materials to remove artefacts from the museum while building works take place, protecting them for future generations.
