A war of Attrition refers is the gradual reduction of strength, through sustained pressure and strikes. You cannot win a war of attrition against a stronger enemy, look at what happened to Syria, they were ground down till there was nothing left. The leadership were not smart enough to do the math. The same will happen to Iran and Russia.

The only way a war of attrition is won by the weaker side, inflict a greater amount of damage on the larger enemy proportionate to their size. That means massive escalation, that means torpedo an aircraft carrier, it means a war of annihilation, an existential war. To fight like a cornered cat. It's simply game theory.

To win Iran must strike at its strongest, and take two steps up the esclation ladder not one.
