Japan has been one of the earliest countries to truly embrace automation, and one of the first places @UiPath expanded to as a company.
Every time I return, I’m reminded how open and forward-thinking this market is. Spending the past week with our customers, partners, and team across FUSION and DevCon was energizing.
Our conversations reinforced that security and enterprise reliability are not mere features, but expectations. And the key to safely harnessing the power of generative AI in the enterprise is orchestration, which stands at the core of our agentic automation approach. The trust our Japanese customers have placed in us over the years pushes us to stay sharp and continue building technology that meet these high expectations.
It was great to join Koichi Hasegawa on stage, and to welcome Hiromi Oka from @Microsoft and Tak Izaki from @nvidia. We talked about the agent-driven future of work: a world where autonomous AI agents, robots, and people operate together with governance and control to deliver real value.
Thank you to everyone who joined us throughout the week. Your insights, questions, and partnership continue to shape how we build.
It was great joining Alyx MacQueen on the diginomica Executive Intelligence podcast. The main topics we cover are agentic ERP and AI agents as first-class citizens on our platform.
I share our own Customer Zero story - implementing SAP with automation at the center and achieving a 93% clean-core, with more than 85% of critical finance workflows being executed by unattended automations.
We also explore the bigger picture: why UiPath is taking a vendor-neutral approach to agents, and the skills I believe will be valuable as agentic workflows become more prevalent in enterprises.

The turning point in the early days of UiPath was shifting our mindset - instead of building the next big feature that made sense to us as developers, we built what our customers needed. This same philosophy is what enables us to help customers surpass the exploratory and POC stages of enterprise level AI-adoption. Our approach to agentic automation is to enable our customers use the right tool for the right task, and allow people to have visibility into what agents produce - unifying AI agents, robots and human decision making into a single platform.
Continental Resources is one of our customers and early adopters of agentic automation. Their solution is now in production, showcasing the right balance between AI-driven processing and human intervention. They chose a use case that tackles a common but high-stakes problem in the energy sector: accurate classification and routing of technical drilling data. This process would historically involve engineers manually reviewing and classifying emails, extracting well and stage data, verifying accuracy, and uploading files into internal repositories.
By orchestrating agents, robots, and built-in decision flows to escalate inconsistent or incomplete data, they reduce manual oversight, increase data accuracy, and accelerate information availability for engineering teams. Early feedback indicates strong results, with the agents achieving high accuracy scores in identifying and classifying emails within an hour of deployment.
I’ve become convinced that as models commoditize, product and engineering are the deciding factors in the success or failure of Agentic AI technologies. IXP is our solution for extracting information from long, complex unstructured documents, building on top of our communications mining and document understanding capabilities. It’s a multi-modal data extraction platform designed to transform documents with complex elements such as nested tables, charts, handwriting, or signatures into structured data, powering automation and analytics. We built IXP as a ground-up Gen-AI first product. It offers a magical, out of the box experience. Zero-shot extraction. Inference-first engine.
This year UiPath turns 20. In 2005, I took the crazy decision to move back to Romania after working at Microsoft for a few years because of a true desire to build a business from scratch. Back then, this decision did not make sense to anyone, as the traditional route for a startup would have been to start in Silicon Valley. That year coincided with the tail end of the “VC winter”, but also with the early days of TechCrunch. In a way, I became more connected and aware of what was happening in the Bay Area from Romania than when I was in Seattle.
