Do you know about Current Care wishes? "Current Care" wishes go into effect immediately, unlike Advanced Directives which only kick in when you’re incapacitated - that’s how doctors were getting around directives. Hospitals are protected by the Prep Act but no doctor can override legally documented informed consent. That's why having things in writing and delivered (or served) is so important. You can't just give documents to someone at the hospital…when delivered certified mail and courier services the hospital is put on notice. Per AMA Opinion 2.1.1 hospitals must include these directives in the patient’s medical directives. That means if the doctor disregards them it can be seen as intentional and the doctor can be sued for intentional tort (murder.) Also to reverse the Current Care wishes it must be in writing,signed by the patient, so doctors can’t coerce or manipulate patients to agree to a treatment. @protocolkills
