It’s going unnoticed because so much other news is happening, but the war drums are beating again in D.C. The warmongers worry this is their last chance to get the white whale they’ve been chasing for thirty years, an all-out regime change war against Iran.
A new Middle East war would be a catastrophic mistake. Our military stockpiles are depleted from three years of backing Ukraine. Our effort to reshore manufacturing has only just begun and will take years to bear fruit. War would worsen our already immense deficit and national debt. Iran is larger than Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan combined. A war would not be easy and could easily become a calamity.
Thanks to President Trump’s restraint during his first term, America has a golden opportunity to pull away from Middle East quagmires for good. We shouldn’t throw that opportunity away so that sone D.C. has-beens can feel tough by sending young Americans to die yet again.
The four biblical examples in this article DO NOT explicitly indicate we have entered the end of days
But the media are really leaning into the narrative at this time for obvious reasons
First, Matthew 24:6-7, wars and rumors of wars have been a thing since Jesus said this in the first century. But proper context of the passage says “…but the end is not yet…” 🤷🏻♂️
Next, Ezekiel 38:5 does mention a “coalition of nations” that come up against the people of God, but proper context of the chapter shows that this is apocalyptic theology about the final defeat of supernatural and earthly enemies AFTER Israel is restored “living securely without walls.”
It’s explicitly NOT about contemporary geopolitics. But some brethren can’t help themselves.
Third, 1 Thessalonians 5:3 says there will be sudden destruction after “peace and safety,” which is NOT the current situation in contemporary Middle East.
Finally, the “Day of the Lord” mentioned multiple times in Scripture is about God’s decisive confrontation with rebellion (human and supernatural) followed by the restoration of His rule over the earth.
It doesn’t have to have any relevance to contemporary geopolitics
Bad hermeneutics lead to misleading contemporary support for geopolitical violence and I simply won’t stand for it
It’s weaponizing Scripture, and it’s wrong
I don’t care if a million ppl disagree with me on this. I am heavily convicted that using Scripture like this is irresponsible
I have never claimed to be a theologian but I do have two degrees in theology and have been a priest for 17 years.
NOWHERE in the bible or in any serious theology I have ever read are Christians told that we should start wars to hasten the return of Jesus.
This is a perversion of our faith.
this is actually INSANE.
we just went from text memes to full blockbuster meme cinema.
someone literally made a giant cat slam captain america and the shield physics look completely real.
the internet is never going to be the same.

The peculiar part: Both matches were played at the same stadium, of course. 😂
