Is Brendan Sorsby really worth all of this?
Seriously. Think about it. Up to this point, Sorsby is a really good college quarterback. Prior to this scandal, I think it was fair to assume he'd be really good this season but it's nowhere near a guarantee.
I've got no doubt that he's a top 10 quarterback in the country. Does that justify the headache? Is he good enough to make up for the added distractions for his teammates and coaching staff? Is he really good enough to bring Texas Tech a National Championship? If he makes a run in the CFP, would anyone even take it seriously?
Perhaps it's worth it for Tech, regardless of what anyone thinks. In my eyes, you need a Cam Newton-level quarterback to justify the controversy that will surround the program from now to the season's end, and potentially even further. Is Sorsby even close to Newton? No shot.
If Tech wants this all to be worth it, they better hope that Sorsby puts up Heisman numbers. They better hope they don't get "November Sorsby." A quarterback that's 0-8 while completing 58.3% of his passes in November isn't a sure-fire bet.
Texas Tech isn't only gambling on a quarterback with more distractions than any player in America, they're gambling on the long-term integrity of their institution. Will it be worth it? Time will tell.

Job well done, Mr. Cyclone.
There are still MANY hours between us and tonight's Sweet 16 game.
So why don't you take a few minutes to read my latest story for @cyclonefanatic on how Yonger Bastida's legacy and story is so much bigger than one match.
I’ve covered a lot of athletes. A lot of moments. But this one meant more. His story is about everything he went through to even get there — leaving home, learning a new language, building a life from scratch in Ames.
It’s about growth. Sacrifice. And becoming someone people look up to. Someone whose name they chant in the stands and they wait in line for.
I cared deeply about getting this one right so I've been working on it for several days because I don't know if we'll ever see someone like Yonger come through this program.
If you have a minute, I’d really love for you all to read it 🤍

Yonger Bastida got off the mat after his semifinals win and took the time to greet some little wrestling fans and took photos and gave autographs.
When he made it through the tunnel he was greeted by Rocky Elam who immediately said "Proud of you".
