May God bless the reading of His Word. John 3:16 is arguably the most well known verse, but this reminds me today that as time has went on we need to be aware that we now live in an age where there are many people in the United States who have no idea who Jesus Christ is outside of His name being used as an explicative.
Jesus Christ is God. He came down and was born to Joseph and Mary aka the Virgin Mary, and He lived a perfect life without sin. When He was 33 years old He was hung up on a cross to die and yet He defeated death rising up again from the dead after 3 days with over 500 witnesses to the event and then rose to heaven.
Jesus had to come and die and rise from the grave to give us a holy sacrifice that was sufficient to cover our sins. He also came to show us the way to live a perfect life so that we could live like Him and according to His will. There is no way to heaven except through Jesus Christ, and through Him alone. He is our salvation. Calling on His name is not enough because in the latter days many will say they proclaimed His name and they will be cast into the lake of fire because they did not follow Him and only believed He existed. Even the demons believe in Him as scriptures tell us. He tells us in 1 John chapter 1 that If we claim to be in the light yet we walk in darkness then we lie and the truth of God does not dwell in us. We know that according to the book of Ephesians that salvation is a gift from God and that through no works can any man be saved so that he may not boast of his own doing, but it is a gift given to us by grace trough faith and faith alone we are saved. Works are an evidence that you have faith they do not earn your way into heaven.
So we know that Jesus came and died for us and made a way for us to have eternal life with Him. We are saved by grace through faith not works. Works are an evidence of faith, not a justification that earns our way into heaven. We have to walk the talk in order to know that we have truly been saved.
Today someone is being called to give their life to Jesus as Lord and Savior over their life. Today someone is about to be experience death and meet God in His throne room and there is only one answer that will get you into heaven. Jesus is Lord and savior over my life and He has promised me eternal life with Him if I die to my old self and pick up His cross and follow Him. If God is calling you today please answer the call and lay down your life for Him today. Jesus is calling, will you answer?
God bless you all and may you all have a blessed day today and may the Lord shine His light upon you. I pray for safety for each and every one of you but I pray more so that for those that God is calling that you will answer that call today. God bless you all.
I assume most people who claim to be Christian donât even know scripture itâs just a tradition for a lot of people and many believing that you are born whatever religion your parents practice. I feel most âChristiansâ donât have a relationship with Jesus or know who He is.
You know what? Youâve lost a customer for life. Idc if Iâm just one person I wonât continue giving a cent to Walmart after all of the bad experiences Iâve been having at your location here. Iâll give @amazon and @Publix my money because at least they have good customer service.
Hey @Walmart this is the second time Iâve been to your store here in the past couple months and Iâve had horrible experiences with getting double charged. Now I have to wait several days to get my money back in my account. Your customer service has been trash.
In this economy it is not acceptable for your company to be tying up hundreds of my hard earned dollars having to wait to get access to my money back because your system double charged me. Absolutely have a horrible experience every time I go to Walmart.
@mellowvibe25 And I have the best woman ever!! Not only to watch Love is Blind with but all around you are the most amazing woman ever! Te amoooo muchisimoooo mi amor linda!!! đ đ„°
Bad things usually come with a bit of good attached. So itâs not surprising that, from a worldly view, pagan and dangerous things can still look appealing or beautiful. 1/3
May God bless the reading of His Word.
It is so good to be writing to you all again today as life has been interesting lately and I have not had much time to dedicate to these messages and Iâm not one to give God my worst, I desire to give Him my best. I am grateful for each of you who reads these messages every day and to those of you who reply to me privately your messages mean the world to me. I ask for prayers as Iâve been going through a time of adapting to some changes in my life and any prayers would be appreciated.
So todayâs verse comes to us from
1 Corinthians 10:31 which says in the ESV,
âSo, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.â
Oddly enough I love how just 2 days prior to this I was having a conversation with a mother of some friends that I grew up with and she was telling me about when she met her husband how much he changed her moving her closer to God. She had shared with me that his personal conviction was that he should only be listening to Christian music and the things he watches and reads should also be pointing him closer to God. While this was his personal conviction it impacted his wife and for as long as I have known this family that is how they have lived out their life because as their father says he desires that everything that they do constantly points them towards our Heavenly Father.
So that conversation now with this verse coming about has sparked a message in me of a simple question. Are the things that you are eating, drinking, or doing something that you CAN glorify God with? Think about that. One might read this and if this was the only scripture that you ever knew then you might say, âWell it doesnât matter what I do then as long as I do it to the glory of God.â This would be wrong as you cannot do sinful actions and glorify God with it. When God tells us here that we need to glorify God in all that we eat, drink and do we must be eating, drinking, and doing things that CAN be done to glorify the Lord.
I love a sermon that my pastor recently gave where at the beginning he gave this imagery of this little inner defense lawyer that lives inside of everyoneâs heads that is like that little devil that used to sit on a characters shoulder in those old cartoons. This inner defense lawyer is constantly trying to reason with us justifying why a sinful action we did is ok and creates all of these mental gymnastics on why we shouldnât feel bad about committing those sins. I love that my pastor said that every Christian needs to fire that inner defense lawyer because that is our flesh that is constantly fighting against God. I mention this imagery because when talking again about doing all things unto the Lord to glorify Him we cannot be allowing our flesh to deceive us into believing that we can do ALL things unto the glory of God but rather instead all that we do SHOULD glorify God. Notice the difference?
If a person goes out and gets drunk can they glorify the Lord with such actions? Of course not because the bible tells us to not be drunkards. If a person eats an enormous amount of food even if they have asked the Lord to bless the food that they are eating can they glorify the Lord with how they are eating? No, because the bible says that we should not be gluttonous (which by the way the church needs to start talking more about in the United States because we have churches full of large people and no pastors calling out their flock on their gluttony). Can a person go out and commit a crime or sleep around or anything that is against God and yet give glory to God in what they do? Of course not! So in all that we do we must be eating, drinking, and doing such things that are acceptable to glorify the Lord with.
It has been such a joy this morning to write to you once more sharing the Lordâs word and to deliver the messages that He lays on me to share with you all as well as for myself. I pray that each of you who reads this today will be blessed.
Amen
May God bless the reading of His Word.
Apologies for the absence lately with the messages. I have been going through a lot of changes in my life lately that Iâve been having to figure out so it has been a little overwhelming lately and I needed to get myself in the right headspace before my next post. Thank you all for your patience and I know several of you have reached out to me missing the messages and that means the world to me that there are those of you who look forward to these messages so much.
With that being said today we find ourselves in 1 Thessalonians 5:15 which says in the CEV,
âDonât be hateful to people, just because they are hateful to you. Rather, be good to each other and to everyone else.â
Sometimes this is probably one of the most difficult things for us to practice as Christians, but it is what God calls us to do. I can think of personally many times when people hurt me and it was my human instinct to want to hurt them back but God calls us to instead be good and kind to them even when they hate us. Today I was discussing with a friend of mine the events that have been going on with at least one church up north where people went in during the middle of the service and started causing a scene. I have been a little out of the loop lately with everything going on but I distinctly remember asking my friend how many members of that church stopped what they were doing and decided to pray for these people? See I know the first reaction that we have as humans in situations like that is to want to throw them out and to an extent I would say that in righteous anger I can understand that as we should not stand for people mocking the Lord. However, what I will say is that so many of these people are so lost that they would find themselves in a church mocking Christians that they are being used by the enemy to attack the church and one has to wonder how many times a single person has ever bothered to stop and pray with these individuals. We often look at these people and wouldnât give them even a second of our time but just because they hate us doesnât mean that we should hate them too. In fact God tells us that we should be good to them and what if the reason that these people are doing this is because deep down they feel hurt by people who have proclaimed the name of Jesus, although who werenât actually Christians, and they were written off every time they reached out to try and search for God. This story has stuck out to me today and when I read the passage from the Word that I knew I wanted to write on God spoke to me about why that verse was placed before me when I was listening to this story.
Christians we need to be bold in that when the world hates on us we need to double down on the love that we give back to them. You say donât let people walk all over you but guess what? Jesus is God and He let mankind take Him all the way to the cross and tore Him apart with whips and all kinds of horrible unspeakable pains. Jesus didnât come and pay it all for us so that when people come before us hating us in His name we might reject them, but instead we are meant to show His light to them and spread the seed of the gospel to them through the fruits of the Spirit that He has given us through peace, patience, love, joy, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Remember this, if you are Christian you too once were lost but now you are found, and when you were lost you were blind to the gospel but now through Christ we see He who set us free and we share in eternal life because of Him. Often before we give our lives to Christ we may have been not very much unlike those who went into the church causing commotions, although it may have been more internalized, many of us were once no different. Love those who hate you.
May God bless each of you who reads this message today and it is good to come before you all again with a message I feel God has laid on me to share with each of you.
Amen
Reposting yesterdayâs message for those who didnât get a chance to see it. I pray that God will bless each and every one of you as you go about your day and for taking the time to read this message. May the Lord shine His light upon each of you and be with you. God bless.
May God bless the reading of His Word.
So Iâm tying todayâs message in with yesterdayâs message with this verse to continue something I spoke about. I asked the question, âdo you love this world more than you love Jesus?â I can sympathize and understand that majority of people arenât in a rush to die and go be with Jesus because in our humanness we sometimes do have a certain fear of experiencing it. Loving Jesus doesnât mean we should be rushing to go die to be with Him but rather that we should be grateful for our time here just as we are grateful for us being able to live eternally with Him when we come to accept and follow Him. What the warning is though is that Jesus comes to us in Mark 8:35 and says,
âFor whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospelâs will save it.â
Often when I think about this verse I think about Cassie the girl from Columbine who when asked if she believed in God she said yes knowing that they would pull the trigger and kill her. I think of all the people who have died in the Congo. All the ones who have been slaughtered in a genocide that they donât want to talk about in Nigeria. To every one of these people who loved Jesus more than they loved this world and were willing to give up their life for the sake of maintaining their belief in God they now stand before the Father worshipping Him for all eternity.
The point is that we have to remember that this isnât our home and we are merely guest here, travelers if you will, living through this life to spread the good news of Jesus Christ until the day that Jesus calls us home.
I remember years ago David Crowder wrote a book titled, âEveryone Wants To Go To Heaven But No One Wants to Die To Get Thereâ. Firstly Iâll say that at the time that he wrote that book he didnât have AI to help give him a shorter title, BUT it is a very accurate statement. The book was written in the wake of his pastor passing away I believe from a freak accident of doing a baptism and the microphone fell in the baptismal and electrocuted the pastor to death. This sparked a topic for Crowder because thatâs just not something you are expecting to ever have to witness but the pastor went out doing exactly what the Lord called Him to do which was to spread His gospel and baptize people.
I understand that todayâs topic is not lighthearted but I canât only speak on the lighthearted topics I must be willing to speak about the good and the hard topics with all of you. Someone today is facing persecution and they will be killed if they proclaim Jesus. If this was you could you truly say that you love Jesus more than you love this world to the point of giving up your life so that you may live with Him for all eternity? Or will you instead save your life here on earth by denying Him knowing that Jesus says in Matthew 10:33,
âbut whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in Heaven.â
The world isnât getting any more friendly folks, in fact the world is getting worse as it is supposed to according to the Bible. There will be a day when the world will turn completely against Christians and you may be faced with the question of, âdo you love Jesus more than you love this world?â Today we are seeing pieces of the end times prophecies coming into alignment and we are heading closer and closer to the time of our masters return. During this time many things will come to pass that will affect the unbeliever but God is faithful to His sheep and He will keep us and be with us through it all. A time is coming when brother will turn against brother, and father against son, and mother against daughter. We here in the United States who have lived a life free from so much of the persecution that Christians across the world face will too one day face similar persecution as the end draws closer and one day we will have to have the scripture written on our hearts. Memorize whatâs in His Word before itâs too late.
Amen

Reposting yesterdayâs message for those who didât get a chance to see it yesterday. May God bless each and every one of you who read these messages and I pray that you all will go forth today and spread the good news of Jesus Christ with those around you.
May God bless the reading of His Word.
Todayâs verse in Luke 12:40 says,
âYou also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.â
So here we have Jesus Himself talking to all of us about His return and letting us know that we must be ready for His return. So I feel like there are 2 camps of âChristiansâ on the topic of Jesusâ return and Revelation. One camp refuses to discuss the end times and their churches always dance around it and you will not hear it mentioned. I can only theorize that these people believe that discussing Christ return puts them in the same category as the dooms-dayers and it makes them uncomfortable to discuss it. The second camp of Christians, and this group is much smaller I believe, study eschatology (the study of the end times prophecies) and are preparing themselves for His return.
So if you live in camp 1 I would say that majority of people who consider themselves Christian fall into this category because they say that discussing the end times gives them anxiety. Let me assure you that you need to read Revelation and the prophecies over again because you may have never read them to start with if you get anxiety from it. All of the bad things that are to come are for the unbeliever. We will be under persecution at some point yes but God is with us the entire way. For the believer these end times prophecies of Christ inevitable return are meant to be a message of hope for the believer. Christ return should be a topic that excites us as Christians. See to ones that say they feel anxiety when discussing Christ return and all of the prophecies to come I have to start questioning if they have come to love this world so much that they in their hearts donât wish to see His return because when He returns yes many things will happen to this world but this world is not our home as Christians, at least in itâs current state of being. When Christ comes He will make a new Heaven and a new earth and only then will this world be our home.
So I suppose that my question to everyone today is, are you more in love with this world than you are with Jesus?
Luke 12:46-47 goes on to say,
âThe master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know, and will cut him in pieces and put him with the unfaithful. And that servant who knew his masterâs will but did not get ready or act according to his will, will receive a severe beating.â
Now for those who donât understand some of the wording here itâs because Jesus at this moment is telling a parable but the point of the parable is that as Christians we are called to always be watching for the signs of the times of His return. We will not know the day that He will return but He didnât give us all of the prophecies in the bible for us to just casually say, âI donât have to worry about it because it will all pan out.â This is scripturally a false belief that I see people fall into because Jesus Himself said in Luke 12:46-47 that to the ones who are unaware of His return that have called themselves Christians they will be counted in with the unfaithful. We know that when Jesus returns He tells us that on that day many will come to Him and say, âLord we did this work and that work in your name.â And He will say to them, âdepart from me for I never knew you.â
There is an importance placed on us as Christians to be constantly paying attention to the things that are going on in the world so that when the time comes for Christ return we would be prepared for the things that are going to happen and because Adonai (The God who demands obedience) has given us this message so that we will not be surprised when Christ comes that if we did not pay attention and we were found sleeping when He returns that we will be counted as the unfaithful, because His faithful should love Him enough to study His word and to study the signs of His arrival as we humbly await the return of our master.
Go and be blessed

Reposting for those who did not get to read the message from the other night. Iâve been having to slow down for just a time now to allow myself some time to rest in the Lord because I have been so busy Iâve had no time to rest. May God bless each of you who reads the message.
May God bless the reading of His Word.
Greetings to all of you. I pray that you all have had a wonderful day today and that the Lord blessed each of you today in ways that you may have yet to come to understand just how much He blessed you but that you would show gratitude to Him for all that He has done for you. Amen.
Todayâs verse comes to us from Hebrews 13:16 and we are reading in the CEV again today which says,
âBut donât forget to help others and to share your possessions with them. This too is like offering a sacrifice that pleases God.â
The message is simple tonight, âAre you helping others and sharing your possessions with them?â See God told us that we are to be storing up treasures in Heaven and not of this world for what we have here is sure to fade away. While we are here the treasures that we do have are given to us for us to enjoy by the Lord but they are also given to us so that we may also use them to glorify Him by helping others with what He has given to us.
Some of you may be living next to someone who is either older or injured and their lawn has gotten a bit out of control because they canât take care of it right now. If you yourself are physically able to help them, are you? If you know that someone is in need of help are you helping them? So many of us get stuck in the rut of the day to day monotony of life and when we see someone struggling we either pass them up or we question them with great scrutiny. If we are to show the light of Christ to the world so that others may come to know Him then when we see others in need of help we must be faithful to help them in what ever way that we can as this pleases the Lord. Now does this mean that you have to stop every single time that you see someone who is homeless and help them? As admirable and amazing as that would be if some of you do do that it would be a massive time commitment that majority of working people wouldnât be able to maintain. This isnât a law and we as Christians are not bound by the law as God is not trying to burden our hearts with everyone in the worldâs troubles. Instead remember that the Holy Spirit will guide us as Christians on who God wants us to help as He convicts us.
Remember to pray for others ceaselessly. Remember to help others as often as you can as this pleases God. Remember to not be so attached to your worldly possessions as sometimes God calls us to give them away so that He may help someone else and use that moment to spread the seed of the gospel of Christ to them through that interaction.
Churches of the body of Christ I want to close my message encouraging you as much as I am also calling us out in the same breath that we need to do a much better job of helping others as a whole moving forward. In the US especially we have allowed the government to start taking care of people as if they are the church because it is OUR role as Christians to help the widows and the orphans, the sick and the lost and weâve just allowed so much of our role to be overtaken by the government by programs that truly havenât given anyone hope because they arenât rooted in Jesus, our only true hope. We must be willing to help people even when it is inconvenient for us to do so as we are called to be obedient in our walk with God, which isnât the same as being bound by the law but rather more so that if we love the Lord and we recognize that He is our Father and He gave us life and created everything around us that if He asks something of us then as good obedient children of God we should in obedience listen to our Great Father in what He asks us to do.
May the Lord bless each and every one of you who reads this message. My apologies for posting this message so late today, however, the past several days have been very hectic for me and the hope of some much needed rest is drawing nearer and nearer as we draw closer to the weekend. Go forth and bless others so that the Lord who blessed you may be glorified in all that you do.
Amen
May God bless the reading of His Word.

Amen
Reposting a message from last month as tonight Iâve come to realize that I am far to tired from not sleeping at all last night to give my best to God and I hold a reverence for God and His word and I respect the Lord in that I want to give Him my best when I share His word.
May God bless the reading of His Word.
So I donât like to assume what everyone knows about the Bible because I believe we live in an era where many people only know Jesusâ name, and even then they only know His name because they use it in vain as well as when they say God.
So the verse today comes from one of the 4 gospels that tells us the good news of Jesus Christ birth, life, death and resurrection. In Luke 1:35 an angel appeared before Mary, who was married to a man named Joseph, and the angel tells her that The Holy Spirit will not only come down to her but that His power will come over her and she will give birth as a virgin and she will name her son EmmanuâEl. Long long before this occurred this was foretold in the book of Isaiah which said,
âBut the Lord will still give you proof. A virgin is pregnant; she will have a son and will name him Immanuel (EmmanuâEl).â
Isaiah 7:14 CEV
So ages before Jesus was born to Mary who conceived as a virgin it was foretold that Jesus would come to this world born of a virgin and this also fulfilled another prophecy which was that He would come from the line of King David. I actually could give you several more accounts of how Jesus fulfilled prophecies but we would be here all day because He fulfilled every prophecy from the Old Testament given to the Messiah that was to come.
So Iâm sure some of you who donât know Jesus are wondering if Mary is the mother of Jesus then who is this EmmanuâEl guy? Well like God the Father who has many names that honor His different attributes such as HaâElyon which is actually used in this verse in the Hebrew and it means âGod the Most Highâ, Jesus too had a few names Himself. EmmanuâEl is Hebrew for âThe Creator God is with Us.â This signified that indeed the God of all the universe, the one and only true God walked among us in the flesh and He was to be 100% God and 100% flesh so that later in His life among us He would then die on the cross as the only perfect sacrifice sufficient to cover our sins so that whoever calls upon His name as Lord and Savior over their life, dies to their old self, picks up His cross and follows Him and His word will share in eternity with Him in Heaven.
Another name that I would love to mention in the Hebrew from this verse is the name for the Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh) which not only translates to The Holy Spirit but in a previous message I have I shared about the word Ruach and how it means breath as well as wind. So the literal translation of Ruach HaKodesh is The Holy Breath or The Holy Wind which gives you the imagery of how Godâs spirit although it is invisible in and of itself you can both feel it and itâs effects as well as see it through how it moves.
At the end of this message I will link both the message containing the word Ruach for better context as well as the message I posted on the word Netzer which gives another prophecy context in the line of David and prophecies from Isaiah.
As we go through this journey of daily verses my prayer for each and every one of you is that if you are already someone who is saved whom I may call my brother or sister in Christ that each day you would take something away from these messages that God wants to speak to you to grow your faith. If you have yet to give your life to Christ and youâre taking the time to read through these messages each day or even if this is your first time I donât believe in coincidence, I believe the Lord is calling you to listen to Him trying to speak to you more. See God, the one true God who came to us as Jesus and left us His Holy Spirit, Heâs chasing YOU. If you are chosen by God He is chasing you and you just need to listen and pay attention.
May God bless each and every one of you who takes the time to read this message today. I pray that each of you will grow closer to the Lord today and that you will speak of Him in your homes, when youâre out and about, when you lie down and when you wake up.
God bless you all
Amen
Reposting another message for those who didnât get to see this one. My message for today will have to be tonight as Iâve been up all night and I desire to give God my best not my worst when I speak of Him to you all. God bless you all and until tonight have a wonderful day.
May God bless the reading of His Word.
Happy New Year to you all and apologies for not posting a message for you all yesterday. Yesterday was a very busy day for me from the moment I woke up early in the morning all the way until midnight last night. I pray that you all had a wonderful first day of the new year and Iâm excited to come to you with our first message of the new year!
âSo we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.â
2 Corinthians 4:16 ESV
You might be thinking, âWell jeez what a sad message to start on for our first message!â To which I say Godâs word is only sad for the unbeliever because this message brings joy to those who are saved in Christ. What we are told here is that while in this life here on earth we are not meant to live here forever so inevitably we grow older and one day we come face to face with our Lord, we are also encouraged to remember that what remains consistent throughout our lives as Christians whether youâre 14 or 114 is that we are being renewed day by day through He who makes all things new. Amen
So today I want to focus on how God renews us day by day. Well for starters we are told that we are to be transformed by the RENEWING of our minds through His word. In order for us to be transformed and RENEWED we must be constantly in His word. See the most beautiful thing about scripture is that itâs alive. One day you can be reading a scripture and God will speak to you in a way about that scripture that pertains to something youâre going through and then the next week you could read that same scripture again and God can speak a whole different message to you through it that speaks to what youâre going through. This happens because while not only His word is alive but also His living breathing Spirit is in us who believe in Him and follow Him. Remember from a previous message that the name for Holy Spirit in Hebrew is Ruach HaâKodesh which means the Holy Breath or Holy Wind as well as Holy Spirit because He is the invisible entity of God that is alive and breathing and is strong like a mighty wind. Although you can not see His Spirit itself you can see it in everything that He does just as a strong wind brushes against the trees so does the Holy Spirit as He moves in our lives and affects things around us and moves things for us to see His works. The Holy Spirit is our interpreter that God has given to us and daily we are to be in His word so that He may speak to us His truths and in turn we also strengthen our relationship with God as we desire to know more and more about Him. Through that desire He will renew us day by day in an eternal fashion.
Today perhaps you have not given your life to Christ and as you hear this message about our bodies wasting away this brings you great sorrow. I have great news for you unbeliever because Jesus Christ came to us as 100% God and 100% man and He died on the cross bearing all of our sins so that those who believe in Him and lay down our old selves and pick up His cross and follow Him will take part in eternal life with Him. Our bodies will still waste away because this world is not our home, but with Christ we are promised that we will spend forever with Him and one day when He returns our spirit that will be with Him in heaven prior to His return will be reunited with our body made perfect and we will live eternally with our Father who created us. However this promise is only to those who have laid down their old selves and follow Him and His word. So I encourage each and every one of you today who has not given your life to Him that if He is calling you I pray that you would surrender quickly without hesitation because your eternity surely depends on it. For those without Christ upon death awaits eternal separation from God which is truly the worst part but as Lazarus tells us in the gospels that Hell is a place where thirst knows no end. It is endless torment. God bless you all.
Amen
Reposting for all those who didnât get to read the message from Saturday. I have some errands I have to do this morning and will not be posting a message today so I will be reposting another message later to make up for it. God bless you all and may you all have a great Monday.
May God bless the reading of His Word.
Good evening everyone I pray that you have had a wonderful Saturday today and a wonderful start to the first weekend of the new year. I pray that each of you got to spend time with your families this holiday season and to those who may not have family members that they could spend it with then I pray that you were able to spend it with the family that God provided for you not through blood but through fellowship.
Today our verse coms from Mark 2:27 which reads in the CEV,
âJesus finished by saying, âPeople were not made for the good of the Sabbath. The Sabbath was made for the good of the people.ââ
For those who may be unfamiliar with the term Sabbath it is a day of rest that you dedicate to resting in the Lord. God mentions the Sabbath in His Ten Commandments as the fourth commandment, âRemember the Sabbath day to keep it holy.â In Genesis when God created the world and everything in it He took the 7th day and rested. If God took a day to rest and He is the almighty God of all that was, is and ever shall be and He is the beginning and the end, then how much more we as humans need to also take a day to rest as well.
So to give more context to this verse Iâll share the whole segment that itâs from in Mark.
Mark 2:23-28 CEV
âOne Sabbath Jesus and his disciples were walking through some wheat fields. His disciples were picking grains of wheat as they went along. Some Pharisees asked Jesus, âWhy are your disciples picking grain on the Sabbath? They are not supposed to do that!â Jesus answered, âHaven't you read what David did when he and his followers were hungry and in need? It was during the time of Abiathar the high priest. David went into the house of God and ate the sacred loaves of bread that only priests are allowed to eat. He also gave some to his followers.â Jesus finished by saying, âPeople were not made for the good of the Sabbath. The Sabbath was made for the good of people. So the Son of Man is Lord over the Sabbath.ââ
So one thing that I draw from this section is that Jesus is telling us that there is nothing that we are able to do that will benefit God because God is already God and Lord of all and He does not need us to honor the Sabbath for His sake but it is for OUR benefit to honor the Sabbath as it is not only time for us to grow closer to Him in our relationship with Him but also time for us to recharge and draw closer to Him together with our families.
Exodus 34:21 says,
âSix days you shall work, but on the seventh day you shall rest.â
So this part is directly speaking about the Sabbath day but interestingly enough the word âworkâ in Hebrew is avad which means not only work but to worship and serve. So when God tells us that we are supposed to âavadâ for six days He is telling us that we are supposed to be worshipping Him and serving Him in our daily life and then on the Sabbath we are to rest in Him and recharge ourselves in Him so that we can continue to go out and worship and serve Him in our daily lives.
Only recently in my life have I begun to start honoring the Sabbath the way that God desires for us to keep it as a holy day and let me tell you that as Jesus says that the Sabbath is made for the good of the people I can tell you that it has made good for myself in so many ways. I dedicate Sundayâs as the day that I honor the Sabbath and I go to church and afterwards I have been spending time with my family without distractions and the difference it has made to have that day of fellowshipping with family and growing closer to God together and then just the simple resting and recharging how you feel renewed the next day is a beyond blessed feeling.
If today youâre realizing that you have not been honoring the Sabbath as God has called us to keep it holy and called us to rest on that day in Him for OUR good then I just encourage you to really start remembering that not only is this a commandment given by God but it truly will transform your life.
Amen
