The 45Q tax credit rewards companies for every ton of carbon captured, including through enhanced oil recovery.

This process injects carbon into the ground to release oil and leads to increased carbon emissions.

My bill with @RepScottPerry would bar companies using this carbon-intensive process from receiving the 45Q tax credit.

Let's set a few things straight--Trump also increased the 45Q tax credit for carbon pipelines. Trump supports eminent domain for private gain. If we are all serious about protecting property rights and the environment, there would be major changes to federal and state laws around fossil fuel infrastructure. We've tried. GOP blocks it EVERY TIME.
