Robin Hood: Bold Outlaw of Barnsdale and Sherwood, about the Robin Hood legend from #medieval ballads to modern pop culture. By Allen W. Wright. Canadian expat.
Michael Keating as Vila was one the high points of #Blakes7 - and the only actor to appear in every episode. I did a spotlight on Straight Outta the Federation when we covered a Vila-centric episode: https://t.co/Zgj4FtSj3V
In the gritty, cynical world of Blake's 7, Vila was the heart of the show, always ready with a quick quip and the odd burst or three of cowardice. Michael Keating avoided making him a cipher, and played him to perfection. RIP.
May 13, 1991 - The #RobinHood movie starring Patrick Bergin and Uma Thurman aired on Fox. Very expanded spotlight article coming soon. The TV version had 12 more minutes than the one you find on streaming these days. One of my absolute favourite versions of the legend.
Paul Darrow (May 2, 1941 - June 3, 2019) was a legend on #Blakes7 and beyond. I looked as 1975’s The Legend of Robin Hood (where he played the sheriff) here: https://t.co/hVL4BUPVRN #BOTD#PaulDarrow#RobinHood
Paul Darrow - May 2, 1941 - June 3, 2019. He was the chessmaster Sheriff of Nottingham in 1975’s The Legend of Robin Hood and the unforgettable Kerr Avon in Blake’s 7. A TV legend. #Blakes7#RobinHood#BOTD#PaulDarrow cc @SOFederation
Gerry Conway's contributions to our medium are immense. I consider myself fortunate to have been able to collaborate with him and experience his talent firsthand. As an editor, Gerry was the first person who gave me a chance to write, for which I'll aways be grateful. RIP, buddy.
Some of the earliest marvel and DC comics I read were written by Gerry Conway. Hopefully @DCOfficial will also write a tribute to the creator of Firestorm, Killer Frost, Cisco Ramon, Felicity Smoak and more from the #Arrowverse. RIP #GerryConway
On behalf of his family, we are sad to share that Gerry Conway has passed away. Gerry was a tremendous icon in comics who shaped pop culture itself. He was a dear friend, partner, and mentor, and our hearts are with his family and the millions he touched through his work.
NEW EPISODE: Explore the legend of Robin Hood as it was known, written about, and sang about, from Shakespeare's lifetime with our guest, Allen Wright (@BoldOutlaw) https://t.co/hK7p6xwnn5 #ThatShakespeareLife
An exclusive new interview with Amy S. Kaufman - author of the 2025 #histfic novel The Traitor of Sherwood Forest https://t.co/GXCHffNqNy In addition to her #RobinHood novel, we talk about #medievalism#historicalfiction
Happy #SupermanDay. Remember that Douglas Fairbanks Sr and Errol Flynn’s Robin Hoods did the folded arms and hands on the hips thing before #Superman ever did. (And Fairbanks in particular as #RobinHood and #Zorro was an inspiration for superheroes.) https://t.co/BWPvXN0y2I
A friend of mine once said “Terrance Dicks. He created Doctor Who” (because his name was on so many novelizations). And while not strictly true, it kind of is true too. He very much defined the Doctor. #DoctorWho
There are a lot of throngs that make #Blakes7 but among them is that Gareth Thomas is a much better actor than many sci-fi leads. He brought so much to Blake.
RIP Moya Brennan, First Lady of Celtic Music. Responsible for the incredible music of Robin of Sherwood which has never left my head since I first heard it in the 80s #MoyaBrennan#Clannad#RobinofSherwood#NothingsForgotten
