🇺🇸A Columbia, South Carolina cop was shot dead and another was wounded in a gunfight with a career criminal who was out on bond after answering a domestic-dispute call.

Officer Christopher DeLong, 29, left behind a wife and 2 young children.

The suspect, 33-year-old Adam Tyler Dowdy, was also killed in the shootout.

He had arrests across 4 states and pending family-violence charges in Georgia with a court date still months away.

Police said it was the 1st time in 50+ years a Columbia officer had been killed in the line of duty.

🇺🇸California lawmakers just sent Newsom a bill that would ban disposable nicotine vapes from being imported or made for sale in the state starting in 2027 and from being sold at all by 2028.

Repeat violators would face civil fines up to $2,000, with supporters arguing the devices litter beaches, leach chemicals into water, and start fires at waste plants.

They even say the lithium and copper inside would be better used in electric-car batteries.

🇺🇸A federal appeals court just ruled that South Carolina’s mail-in voting law is unconstitutional because it lets anyone 65 and older vote absentee with no questions asked while younger voters still have to prove they’re out of town, disabled, or meet other rules.

The Fourth Circuit said the state is handing out voting opportunities based solely on age, which violates the 26th Amendment, and told lower courts they must either open no-excuse mail ballots to everyone or to no one.

South Carolina plans to keep fighting, possibly all the way to the Supreme Court.
