Public Raises Concerns Over Lack of Drainage in Four-Lane Construction

A local resident from Kullu has shared a video exposing severe waterlogging near Kutiyage–Diyar Chowk in Bhuin Panchayat, where a four-lane highway is under construction. The video highlights the absence of a proper drainage system, resulting in rainwater pooling on the road and seeping into nearby homes.

Residents say the issue has made daily life difficult and commuting hazardous—particularly for two-wheelers and small vehicles. Despite repeated complaints to the district administration and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), no remedial action has been taken.

“NHAI never planned for drainage. This happens every time it rains,” said a villager. Another remarked, “We’ve approached everyone—from the Deputy Commissioner to NHAI. But it feels like the administration believes no one lives here.”

The incident once again underscores lapses in planning and accountability in infrastructure projects across the region.
