#indiedev update: Getting more building blocks together. Inventory items show as they are added, and you can combine items together. You can get close ups of certain things and basic logic is working...feels like real progress! #pointandclick
Items that need to be unlocked will allow you to examine them first. Once they are unlocked you can use whatever action. EG a locked door will prompt that you need a key. Once you have the key you will be able to open the door
I think I have settled on how players interact with objects in my #pointandclick adventure game.
Most items will have a single 'action' EG pick up, look at, open etc, but you can also right-click to examine the item (In this clip Im right-clicking x3 to get different responses)
hey #pointandclick devs and fans - what do you think of this interaction style? Most things you can just pick up and add to your inventory, but some I want to 'force' you to get an explanation of the item first before you can pick it up. Workable or annoying? #indiedev
@Kanaratron Thanks - I have been aiming at 256x256 for my characters, but good to know a 64x64 might work if I am just using a palette, and that you can get good enough logo/decal definition with a 256 or 512. Much appreciated!
@Kanaratron Love seeing how you go about building your world. Its very useful for us indiedevs! What size are the textures you use? Do you have one per character?
@gugames_eu Very early days in my (solo, hobby) dev journey on my first point and click game. Just playing around with the mechanics and ideas etc but enjoying it so far. Definitely got the pointing and clicking working 🙂
@CharlesBoury This is inspiring. I am aiming at a 'no UV' (or low UV as the case may be). I am playing around with this kind of style, but the pop/brilliance/beauty of your game is real motivation to keep working on it
@GreyAlien Working on my first point and click adventure. Mostly in the 'get all the mechanics sorted out' phase, but also playing around with some assets...very much a shotgun approach, but thats the way I hobby dev 😆
