@SpyHards Odd how the man who directed the best Brosnan film is the one who had the most friction with Barbara.
Clearly, this marked the beginning of a string of questionable creative decisions she made as producer of the Bond franchise.
@Liam_The_Nerd Yeah, sorry.
If it comes to watching Bond smoke Cubans with a red-hot Halle Berry or watching Bond wallow in self-pity about being a secret agent...
I'll choose DIE ANOTHER DAY every time!!!
@Liam_The_Nerd Not even close to the worst Bond.
Just seeing Connery in full badass mode & Tom Mankiewicz's sharp script with great one-liners like, "I'm afraid you've caught me with more than my hands up." makes it worth it.
@bornposting NSNA all day long! Connery's charm, Barbara Carrera's craziness & Irvin Kershner's tight direction dominates TSWLM.
TSWLM suffered from:
A weak villain
A Bond girl who couldn't act
A hideous disco score by Marvin Hamlisch
A climatic tanker attack that lacked thrills & excitement
@Kriegler007 I love when Bond throws the chain at him!
That's one thing the makers of films like KINGSMAN got all wrong. The fights were highly choreographed dance numbers.
Bond was a brawler who had no problem fighting dirty.
@GlobalWatchClub The Submariner was producer Cubby Broccoli's personal watch that he loaned to the production of DR. NO. It had the original brown, leather strap in that film & FRWL.
They switched to the NATO strap in GOLDFINGER, which was more appropriate given Bond's naval background.
@JonesTheBond2 I met him outside Mr. Chow's restaurant in 2006. Great guy with a firm handshake.
I had him sign a blank index card for me but then one of the professional autograph dealers there handed me an 8X10 from DIE ANOTHER DAY & he signed that for me too.
@BestMovieMom Terribly conceived.
Terribly cast.
The gadget man who doesn't make gadgets.
If Amazon was smart, they'd cast David Thewlis as Q in the next Bond movie and get back to some normalcy.
@ScottMcCreaWest I'd still take Bond blowing the fake Blofeld's head off with a grappling gun over Bond wallowing in self-pity in a bar any day of the week.
