It prevents brainlessly placing the reticle on survivors for unreactable hits

It's not very difficult to play around either, just send the beam a bit earlier than you think you need to.

so you SHOULD (emphasis on SHOULD) still be able to do this on Console with some adjustments to the Beta tab

Regular mode, you do have to focus on the line-draw method for shorter loops
