We need skills. We have a vision and purpose. My kids cannot succeed unless everyone succeeds. This is about people being productive. We need not just resources but resourcefulness. We must fight corruption. We will build country & economy
#YouthInCrisis@MelodyXaba
We need to stop looking at government to solve all our problems. It does play a major role.
We are in a place now where active citizenship is required. Empowering 1 child actually matters if 100K of us empower 1 child each.
We can solve problems.

Youth unemployment is a consequence of system and it is part of the greater challenge of developing human capital, that will unleash the economy of this country, so that we can be globally competitive and rub shoulders with the best in the world.
#YouthInCrisis Waseem last thoughts:
It would be wonderful to impact hundreds of thousands of young people. The outcome has to be reduction of poverty and inequality. We must stop looking at this in an individual level. We need to look at it in a household level.
@HenleyAfrica
#YouthInCrisis@Africadean
We need to have another session on this.
We cannot build our GDP without educating everyone.
We cannot wait for government.
It is in our hands to do something about it.
@HenleyAfrica

Government is holding back on spending.
We are moving into online education.
Resources are not available for students to attend webinars and online lessons.
Connectivity also a challenge.
Poverty is real
@HenleyAfrica

One way to move in a radical direction with education is that we need to grasp & deeply understand, the full nature of education levels.
For example is language important?
We need more research to grasp those challenges on various levels.

During recent looting etc - the young woman that supports herself through baking and selling cakes to people in her community, did not loot, because she can support herself.
How do we help our youth to support themselves by the time they are 18?
#YouthInCrisis@MelodyXaba
Helping someone to find their sense of purpose requires them to have skills and be contributing members of society.
They need to see problems and realise they can sort out a solution.
@HenleyAfrica
#YouthInCrisis Waseen:
We have structural unemployment.
We need radical solutions.
We need the right management at TVET colleges.
We need private sector people to help the public sector - or to at least collaborate.
@HenleyAfrica
#YouthInCrisis Waseem:
Majority of young people go to university and get a job.
TVET colleges are not attractive environment. TVET has lower budget too. Outcomes are less than university.
Corporate treat TVET graduates different to University graduates.
@HenleyAfrica
#YouthInCrisis@Africadean
To make money in business is not easy.
The majority of this country cannot thrive unless they get skills and quickly.
Where are the TVets?
The education system is useless.
How are we going to change that?
@HenleyAfrica

People offer training to entrepreneurs.
They need to be able to do the work and find the right market - they might not need training.
#YouthInCrisis@MelodyXaba
A mentor guides you with knowledge and skills
A sponsor must be willing to roll up their sleeve, take your hand, show you an opportunity, they see your potential and help you climb the career ladder
There are not enough sponsors in SA
@HenleyAfrica
#YouthInCrisis@MondeLot_Ndlovu
We need to fast track management skills of unemployed graduates through establishments like @HenleyAfrica who will assist business and private sector. This might lead to a change in representation, diversity and introduction of fresh ideas.
#YouthInCrisis@MondeLot_Ndlovu
The private sector is the engine of our economy.
We need to look at managerial skills and their development.
Unemployed skilled youth can help government in repairing the areas within their departments that require attention.
@HenleyAfrica

Corruption is a dire issue and human challenge
Humans with wrong set of values are ethical leadership challenge.
Finance is biggest industry. We need to get it right.
SA industry demands now are science, engineering and technology
@HenleyAfrica
#YouthInCrisis@Africadean
Corruption is hindering our youths chances. Stolen funds could have been directed at opportunities for youth employment schemes.
"Corruption kills youth opportunities."
