Obsession (2025) - A dark twist on the "be careful what you wish for" trope. Tense, chaotic, and unsettling. Genuinely great performances, but with some very nonsensical decisions. Overall it's a grim but entertaining ride.
7/10
The Running Man (2025) - I almost skipped this one, but am so glad I didn't. It's a faithful adaptation of the King novel full of over-the-top characters and explosive sequences. One of the better sci-fi/action films I've seen in a long time.
7.5/10
Shelby Oaks (2024) - Though it's still a better film in several ways, this was the most disappointing thing since Skinamarink. Incredibly drawn out and disjointed, but gets points for an interesting and original idea.
5/10
The Woman in the Yard (2025) - A thriller based on tragedy. Some parts were genuinely uncomfortable to watch, but that speaks to their effectiveness. Much better than most lower tier Blumhouse cash grabs, but still fairly average. TW: Self-Harm
6/10
Locked (2025) - This thriller (?) is a popcorn flick with an outlandish premise you just have to take at face value. Good for just sitting back for 90 min. - a rainy day type of flick.
6.5/10
Come to Daddy (2019) - Didn't know what to expect from this, but am happy I took the ride. This black comedy has all sorts of quirks and oddities sprinkled throughout. I'm definitely interested in seeing what else the writer has done.
7/10
Sinners (2025) - Heard it was great and it still far exceeded my expectations. Superb cast, original story, and affective commentary. The music was great on its own, but also served as a storytelling device. Brilliant film!
9/10
Bring Her Back (2025) - The team behind Talk To Me came out swinging with another incredibly unique horror. A truly original story and plenty of well-executed practical effects to make your skin crawl.
