My doctoral graduation certificate arrived today. Thank you to everyone who’s helped over the last four years: it’s been a long & winding road. I didn’t set foot in a university until I was 30, so this feels sweet indeed. #PhDone
Thanks so much to everyone who tuned into my Summer Reads show on @BookChiltern with @antonia_writes - hope you enjoyed! Here's my main selection, and scroll down thread for Summer Reads Extras https://t.co/pGhaN6kcs4
Thank you so much to @isabelcostello for bringing the Literary Sofa to Book Club - with such great songs to match your choices! I’m very behind on the podcast but I will catch up x and I’m thrilled that Isabel will be back to help with our Christmas shopping! x
Thanks so much to Antonia for inviting me back. No book for the last song, ANI KUNI by Polo & Pan - reminds me of dancing alfresco in Marseille last summer (after 2 yr absence) and makes me long to return in September
First non-fiction pick is Natasha Lynn’s CONVERSATIONS ON LOVE which blew my mind and made me want to give it to everyone on the planet. Waiting for Love by Avicii is an incredible sound and as for the lyrics…
Can't stop recommending @lynnbushellart's fascinating and witty THE LOVERS AND THE DUSTMAN, about the extraordinary triangular love life of artist Stanley Spencer. To the arty, funny words of Common People by Pulp
It was a no-brainer to include @ailipstein's meta-literary LAST RESORT in my Summer Reads radio show - thanks to @gillybethstern for the top tip which I'm passing on to the sound of Billy Joel's New York State of Mind
Second up is standout dark'n'deep psychological thriller THE FAMILY RETREAT by @BevThomas20 set on the Dorset coast, to the sound of U2's Every Breaking Wave
First up, fabulous Glasgow-flavoured debut GINGER AND ME by @elissa_soave - and my song pick is I don't want a lover by Texas, partly for the line 'I just need a friend'. I mean, what a song
And we’re off… fabulous @isabelcostello bringing her Summer Reads to Book Club, with song choices to match. Join us from anywhere in the world online https://t.co/ABRNpkkKnH or locally on 107.4fm x
