Every time I've done a school tour at work a kid has come right up to me while I'm talking about something else to touch the Appa button on my lanyard and whisper "Appa." Personal boundaries may not be universal but Avatar the Last Airbender sure is.
If you want to listen to me talk about The Golden Hour by @niki_smith - the recording of a selection of my #LiteraryLandscapes essay for @newterritorymag is now available: https://t.co/boXcPyQbHx
I've not been on here in a hot minute, but I wanted to share this #LiteraryLandscapes essay that really captures my thoughts on 4-H, camp, and rural children's literature.
@niki_smith The one part of the book I wanted to mention in the essay but couldn't fit in is when Sebastian opens the freezer and talks with Manuel about eating something that you've given a name, and that's a carbon copy of conversations that I had with friends in high school
@niki_smith This is so lovely to hear! Reading this in Boston took me right back to Kansas and home. It hits every nail head on and is such an important book to me!
The best part of Are You There God It’s Me Margaret, is that they really captured the 12-year-old’s inability to have their hair ever actually look like they actually brushed it.
Today a group of preschools kids chanted me name when I came to their classroom to do storytime for them. So that made for a nice National Library Workers Day.
