When Merilyn Simonds was in Burlington for an author event organized by A Different Drummer Books, I had a chance to meet her. She graciously signed our copy of her Bookmarked novel The Convict Lover and my copy of her new book Walking with Beth (a great read!).
Thanks to the hard work and persistence of the Nova Scotia Reading Circle, a Bookmark honouring the late Budge Wilson was installed at Dalhousie University. From selecting the passage from the short story “The Leaving” to the unveiling ceremony, they worked as a dynamic team.
City of Miramichi unveiled two plaques in Newcastle honouring David Adams Richards. The plaques are part of Project Bookmark Canada. David has been sharing stories based in Miramichi for decades and the plaques are an excerpt from ‘The Friends of Meager Fortune’. #Miramichi
An award-winning Miramichi author is now part of a nationwide literary trail, with plaques featuring an excerpt from one of his novels on display in his hometown. https://t.co/GDrQXKgxXn

Hikers in Hamilton visit the Bookmark for Rachael Preston’s novel The Fishers of Paradise. They read about Hamilton’s lost boathouse community dating back to the 1930’s. Preston makes that history come alive in her novel about the fictional Fisher family who lived there.
Hikers in Hamilton love to stop at the Bookmark for Rachael Preston’s novel The Fishers of Paradise. They read about the lost boathouse community that existed there in the 1930’s. Preston makes that history come alive in her novel about the fictional Fisher family living there.
Canada is fortunate to have excellent bookstores like A Different Drummer in Burlington. These bookstores support Canada's writers by hosting events for them. On Canadian Independent Bookstore Day, why not support your local Indie?
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to Project Bookmark Canada! On this day in 2009, the first Bookmark was installed. People gathered on Toronto’s Bloor Street Viaduct to hear Michael Ondaatje read the Bookmarked passage from In the Skin of a Lion.
