⚠️ Community Warning: Dangerous Synthetic Opioid Identified ⚠️
The Howard County Coroner’s Office is alerting the public to a dangerous synthetic opioid known as Cychlorphine, which has recently been detected in major regional areas and linked to a growing number of fatal incidents across the Midwest.
Officials say this substance may be up to 10 times more potent than fentanyl, meaning even a very small amount can be deadly.
Key concerns include:
• Extreme potency — even a very small amount can be fatal
• Not detected by standard fentanyl test strips
• May require multiple doses of Narcan to reverse its effects
Cychlorphine is often mixed into other substances without a person’s knowledge and may appear as:
• Off-white, gray, or tan powder
• Counterfeit pills made to resemble prescription medications
• An additive in other drugs
Officials are reminding the public: never take any medication that was not prescribed to you and dispensed by a legitimate pharmacy.
If you or someone you know may be at risk, please take this warning seriously. Awareness can save lives.
