What a labor of love. Today we gathered to celebrate the culmination of a successful mental health collaborative with Region 4, H-E-B, YMCA of Greater Houston, The Jung Center , & Trauma & Grief Center-Hackett Center. Together we were able to build a unique partnership!
The Region IV school, School Safety Conference held in Alief ISD was dynamic! All aspects of school safety, including police, mental health, FBI etc, and our amazing Superintendent and Chief of Police were awesome panelist!

Today, Region 4 celebrated the success of a unique community partnership aimed at providing @AliefISD mental health providers, teachers, nurses, and counselors with supports in trauma-informed practices, self-care, and emotionally supportive practices for a more effective relationship with students and families. Alief ISD high school students were awarded scholarships by @HEB to develop mental health awareness programs at their schools.
Region 4 thanks H-E-B, Alief ISD, @YMCAHouston, @JungHouston, and @HackettCenter for their support in this endeavor. The Region 4 OEMSS mental health team looks forward to continuing this important work with you.

This week the Mental Health team will be at high schools discussing NAMI’s StigmaFree campaign effort to end stigma and create hope for those affected by mental illness. Together, we can advocate for a better world. Together, we can turn StigmaFree Me to StigmaFree We. #WeRAlief

This month we’re talking about the virtue of Courage – to help our children be courageous and learn to conquer things that frighten or scare them. Children need reassurance that fear is one of our feelings and to help them understand that it’s okay to feel afraid.
