Scarborough is tired of "vibes" and photo-ops. We need a roadmap.
As your Councillor, I can’t pass these alone, but I will use every day of my mandate to fight for these 32 policies in this thread. This is the vision for a more connected, healthy, and affordable Ward 21. 🧵(1/33)
@cowboylikeoli@reiaposting@LinkofSunshine They are going to assume you mean south of like 14th. Stop being intentionally obtuse. Actually done with you now and muting you

@anotherglassbox@ProjectEND Lil mixed on this one tbh. Cities evolve and change… we have to let them. That is not really an appropriate building for the corner of College/Bathurst and likely needs to go at some point. The venue, signage, etc. however is a very different story.
This IS how you reduce congestion on highway 401. Not by adding new lanes in a tunnel.
Good news is we've already taken the first step. TTC Line 4, once extended to the airport and to Pickering, will parallel 401. Helping to reduce congestion.
I try to show it in this photo...
@donnelly_b@ProjectEND Funnily enough, gf was in town a week ago from LA(mentioned this might be my fav area) before we headed up Montrose from Trinity-Bellwoods, and headed east…. Her eyes were as wide as saucers the entire stretch. She instantly fell head over heels. Great call! Idyllic area
@RippedMind@Zynchronic1ty@matt_kercher Of a new unit in parts of Spain, Italy, Greece, and large swaths of the Midwest in the U.S. Good place to start would be stop to charging taxes on housing units like they are pollution or some other externality we don’t want more of.
@RippedMind@Zynchronic1ty@matt_kercher Here’s the kicker though…. They are mostly small condos that are too expensive to sell largely due to govt policy however. Developer charges on a 1 bedroom condo in Vancouver range from $87ish thousand to about $140k. The developer charges in Vancouver are about the total cost
@matt_kercher@avilewis@Emily_Lowan That’s not a good idea friend, although I appreciate the outside the box thinking.
You’re just introducing more risk which would increase the cost to borrow and likely drive housing prices up; not down. Also would limit supply as many could not get financing
@reiaposting@BagelPolling The difference in cost is insignificant when you consider that likely around 60% of the budget will go towards soft costs and not construction at all. If we just did marginally better on our soft costs; nobody would be talking about the slight additional expense it would create
@cowboylikeoli@reiaposting@LinkofSunshine Which would be in the Bronx(almost 10 miles from “downtown NYC”).
In this single regard; Toronto actually is kind of special
@NHipwell@K38Tweets If it’s any consolation… most of it likely isn’t real. Ottawa is awesome! Clearly an American psyop has been going on for about the last year. Surprised there isn’t 50 racist anti-Indian comments here just because you tweeted: “Toronto”
@anotherglassbox The issue with Progress is that they aren’t very progressive and very often defend the status quo, or at least aren’t willing to challenge it. They push candidates that are beholden to whatever the Mayor’s office states and defend it as if it is the paragon of left urbanism.
