Boots in the Oven

Livin’ the 2-kid, 1-husband lifestyle in Austin, TX. Radicalized by social media.

[David Simon @AoDespair]

1) Thread for today: I am not going to opine on the Supreme Court's ruling except to tell a story about a late and valued friend. The story will suffice for the sum of my thoughts about affirmative action.

I was working at the student newspaper at the University of Maryland...

@austinenergy power has been out here (north central) for an hour. No texts or updates. And we still aren’t on the outage map despite reporting the outage. Please tell us what’s up!

[Pro-Democracy RTs @ProDemocracyRTs]

Republicans don’t want separation of church and state. They want their church to be your state.

[Boots in the Oven @BootsInTheOven]

Eek. This is so sad. Apparently sacrificing people’s health is cheaper than using laser technology to distress jeans. Capitalism!

[Lakyn Thee Stylist @OgLakyn]

This is how jeans get distressed. You see the mask, the goggles, and yet, this worker is probably still breathing in enough of those tiny fibers to permanently damage their lungs.

If only there was a way to get holes in jeans without harming someone in the process…

Signal boost. The boilerplate texts (we are aware of an outage blah blah) are maddening for those still w/o power.

[Katie Swaim @katieswaim4]

At this stage, it would most help customers to have individualized information. General city-wide communications are not helpful. With the lower number of outages, please let each outage know their own reason and a timeline. (Tower outage/Supplies needed/crews coming, etc.)

[Boots in the Oven @BootsInTheOven]

@kikiwagner @austinenergy Kirsten!!! Hi! (I remember you from AustinBorn!) We are also w/o power in Crestview. Went out late Wednesday night. This is ridiculous.

[David Logan @A_DavidLogan]

I've had no power in Austin for 30 hours now.

By the time this is over, I'll lose hundreds of dollars of groceries & hours of lost work potential.

This city is a shell of what it could be, the city of Austin doesn't invest in the future, & it hurts the working class hardest.

For the love of God, pundits: Long voting lines aren’t enthusiasm. They’re suppression.
