Suicide squad was released on streaming at the exact same time because of Covid. So obviously the box office wasn’t gonna be huge. It was also the most pirate film that year with 29% getting stolen. And still managed to set streaming records and made ass loads of money on streaming. Also, Joker made crazy amounts of fucking money. More than anything Zach has ever done in his entire fucking life. And Matt Reeves Batman made ass loads of money. More profit than BVS and has sequel coming out next year.
I’m afraid this image you have of yourself of being a knowledgeable Film person is complete bullshit because you don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about. You’re just another jackass idiot Snyder guy.
Cooked.
The Snyder Bro mental breakdown is so aggressive that it has turned every single one of them into an amateur Film finance expert.
Overnight after Superman came out every single one of them started discussing inflation rates, print and advertising expenditures. Domestic and international spending. Tax rebates, and incentives , Tickets sold.
These fuckers will jump through any hoop and do any mental gymnastics and mathematics as much as possible to try to make DCU not look profitable.
Meanwhile, the franchise they liked ended eight years ago and we keep getting more and more DCU content. These people are a cancer on social media and on cinematic fandom. No studio should ever do anything to touch these people ever again.
Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
The SUPERGIRL box office framing is getting really weird.
Deadline says SUPERGIRL cost $175M net and has a $315M global break-even point “before global P&A spend.”
That last part is doing a lot of work.
Because when THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU had a reported budget around $165M, we kept hearing it needed $500M–$600M worldwide to be in the black once marketing and everything else got factored in.
But now SUPERGIRL is somehow being framed around a much cleaner $315M number before global ad spend.
Come on.
I actually do not think marketing should always be dumped into these public break-even conversations the way people use it online. P&A is deductible, studios account for it differently, and the real math is always messier than “budget times 2.5.”
But be consistent.
If one movie needs to clear half a billion because marketing exists, then you cannot turn around and pretend another $175M superhero movie only needs $315M before marketing because that sounds better.
This feels like Deadline running cover.
SUPERGIRL might still be fine. It might leg out. It might find an audience. I genuinely hope it does.
But the box office narrative is already being softened before the movie even opens.
That usually tells you somebody (James Gunn) is nervous.
Oh ok! Got it. Just make sure you guys take a second out of your busy DCU trolling schedule to mention the last photograph a little bit. Zach Snyder‘s piece of shit $5 million Indi Film that can’t even get distribution. Because if that movie fails after everything he was doing over at Netflix got canceled his careers in big trouble. But none of your pieces of shit seem to talk about that cause you’re busy trolling DCU all day.
Hey how long are you guys gonna say these movies flop while we keep getting sequels until you realize that they don’t flop? Or do you think James Gunn has the magical ability to just keep making movies forever even though they’re all flopping according to you?
@bebop771 You realize the movie officially out on June 26 right? nobody is gonna by tickets that far out. I know you guys desperately want this Movie to fail for some reason, but it’s not.
@NeolithicBarber What do you mean why was one movie more profitable than the other. Which two movies? Sorry I’m debating like six motherfuckers at the same time lol. But clarify I got you.
@SamMoss85@rzofthenorth Man of steel is a failure in tone and inequality and in character interpretation. Superman flies over blue skies. Batman flies over gray skies. Yin Yang.
Movies that lose $65 million don’t get spinoffs and don’t get sequels. Doesn’t matter who the CEO is. If you lose that amount of money you get fired. And if you don’t get fired, you definitely don’t get spinoff since sequel. 42 million was not after payouts. You have no proof to back that whatsoever.
I’m sorry you think Zach Snyder is a genius but he’s got five fucking filled franchisees. He sucks he’s never coming back. The real problem here is a hashtag made you feel like you had power like you were part of something special but you’re not. It’s over.
@SamMoss85@rzofthenorth I’m glad you don’t see a problem with it. But those phones are canceled and have been canceled for the last eight years. So it’s over.

How many arguments do you have? Which one is it?
Was the tax rebates and incentives before or after it’s budget
Was the 125 profit a 10 year ancillary
Did it lose 65 million?
Is the Forbes guy wrong?
Was the 42 million profit bonuses and payouts?
You realize you’ve given me several excuses and when I challenge you on them instead of rebottling and addressing that challenge, you move onto something else. You’ve done this six times.
Here’s a reality check brother.
670 mostly International with crazy second and third week drop off and higher marketing cost.
619 mostly domestic With record setting second and third week retention and less money on marketing.
The domestic Theater split for studio is higher and International is less.
And at the end of the day Snyder DC has been canceled for eight years and DCU is still going strong with several projects coming out over the next two years.
It’s over. It’s been over your nitpicking Film finance semantics to take the sting away from losing.
If I show you trade journalist several of them that say, Superman made one 25 million profit then shut up and take it. Cause at the end of the day Snyder DC has been canceled for over eight years and man of tomorrow comes out next year. I don’t know what the fuck is wrong with you, Snyder People, but you’ve been embarrassing for eight years.
Your claim that it lost money is fucking insane.
We’re supposed to accept your Forbes reporting but at the same time ignore my Forbes reporting as well as variety in Bloomberg and Hollywood reporter? How come your sources from the exact same outlets have to be listened to but my sources from the exact same outlets have to be wrong?
