Jorge Luis Borges

[Jorge Luis Borges @BorgesDiario]

De una materia deleznable fui hecho, de misterioso tiempo.
[…]
Acaso de mi sombra
surgen, fatales e ilusorios, los días.

El suicida

Haré polvo la historia, polvo el polvo.
Estoy mirando el último poniente.
Oigo el último pájaro.
Lego la nada a nadie.

[Jorge Luis Borges @BorgesDiario]

Para siempre cerraste alguna puerta
y hay un espejo que te aguarda en vano.

Lo que decimos pocas veces se parece a nosotros. #BorgesDiario

[Jorge Luis Borges @BorgesDiario]

I am trying to bribe you
with uncertainty, with danger, with defeat.

[Jorge Luis Borges @BorgesDiario]

I can give you my loneliness, my darkness, the
hunger of my heart;

[Jorge Luis Borges @BorgesDiario]

I offer you explanations of yourself, theories about
yourself, authentic and surprising news of
yourself.

[Jorge Luis Borges @BorgesDiario]

I offer you the memory of a yellow rose seen at
sunset, years before you were born.

[Jorge Luis Borges @BorgesDiario]

--the central heart that deals not
in words, traffics not with dreams, and is
untouched by time, by joy, by adversities.

[Jorge Luis Borges @BorgesDiario]

I offer you that kernel of myself that I have saved,
somehow

[Jorge Luis Borges @BorgesDiario]

I offer you whatever insight my books may hold,
whatever manliness or humour my life.

[Jorge Luis Borges @BorgesDiario]

I offer you the bitterness of a man who has looked
long and long at the lonely moon.

[Jorge Luis Borges @BorgesDiario]

What can I hold you with?
I offer you lean streets, desperate sunsets, the
moon of the jagged suburbs.
