@RetractionWatch As much as AI might help identify concerns, the looming possibility is for it to completely overwhelm the peer review system with plausibly faked junk, especially in the more open spaces. We will need whole new mechanisms to handle this.

Generative AI on its own - I've seen lots about how it will impact artists, document preparers, and creators. But what about academic research? In the age of AI spoofing, aren't open-access journals now extremely vulnerable to massive amounts of AI spoofing?

I thought of a few solutions here. One is extreme vetting - think in-person verification of a research team's bonafides before accepting submissions from that team - and the other is maybe a blockchain that establishes reputations?

@calleymeans It’s perfectly valid to say we need to worry about body comp changes beyond just weight - but to just say “it makes you fatter” when the evidence (even if flimsy) suggests, otherwise and attack those who point it out, makes you an unreliable communicator.
