Honestly, I am quite surprised at the depth and ferocity of the response to the admiral's faux pas. I figured it would be a mild X flame war for a couple of hours and then it would be over.

But it lingers.

My theory is this: that response speaks to deep seated anger from the veteran community at the brass who led us in the GWOT.
