Site Spotlight #11: The Edgewater Drive Rain Garden! The swath of red, stamped brick that used to occupy the corner of this intersection has been replaced with a rain garden. This garden will treat storm water from the intersection and lessen heat when temperatures rise!

We retrofit a median along Blue Hill Avenue, between Castlegate Road and Washington Street, allowing it to host new bioswales! Planted with native shrubs, grasses, and perennials, they filter and infiltrate stormwater from the abutting streets to prevent flooding and pollution.
They say April showers bring May flowers, and in no set of locations is this more evident than Boston’s numerous rain gardens. These gardens host a variety of flowers that beautify streets while promoting biodiversity throughout Boston!

Site Spotlight #10: Jackson Mann Community Center! The Jackson Mann Community Center hosts a luscious rain garden that borders its parking lot. This installation not only punctuates the sidewalk with luscious greenery, but helps to reduce heat and fight flooding in the area.
