@KagutaMuseveni Absolutely agree. Africa adding value to its own resources isn't just fair -it's smart economics for both continents. Thank you for putting this agenda front and center.
This afternoon at State House Entebbe, I met H.E. Jan Sadek, the European Union Ambassador to Uganda, and his delegation as we reflected on 50 years of partnership between Uganda and the EU.
I welcomed this long-standing collaboration and emphasized the need for Europe and other partners to support Africa’s industrialization and value-addition agenda. Africa cannot continue exporting raw materials while importing finished products if we are to achieve prosperity for our people.
A richer and more prosperous Africa is good for business, investment, and trade for both our continents. I encouraged our European friends to work with us in unlocking Africa’s enormous economic potential through value addition, industrialization, and infrastructure development.
@KagutaMuseveni Heartening to read. Ambassador Popp’s contributions clearly made a lasting impact. Wishing him success, and hoping the next chapter in Uganda-U.S. relations is even stronger.
I received H.E. William W. Popp, the outgoing Ambassador of the United States to Uganda, at State Lodge Nakasero.
I thank Ambassador Popp for his service over the past years and for his contribution to strengthening the cordial relations between Uganda and the United States. We discussed matters of mutual interest and cooperation between our two countries.
I wish him good luck in his future assignments and endeavours.
@KagutaMuseveni@BarungiEsther1 Truly heartfelt. As a young Ugandan, I appreciate being included in such an important religious celebration. Eid Mubarak to our Muslim family!
This evening at State House Entebbe, I met the first NRM Caucus of the 12th Parliament and welcomed the endorsement of Hon. Jacob Oboth Oboth as candidate for Speaker and Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa as candidate for Deputy Speaker.
I congratulated them and reminded the Caucus that since the inception of the NRM, we have rejected bad politics. When choosing leaders, we must first ask what needs to be done for the people before asking who should do it. Politics must reject identity, religion, tribalism and gender chauvinism, and instead focus on solving people’s problems. Our priority remains wealth creation and social- economic transformation through productive engagement in agriculture, services, artisanship and ICT.
This afternoon at State House Entebbe, I met a delegation from Africa Centers for Disease Control (CDC) led by Director General Dr. Jean Kaseya, who briefed me on the regional Ebola situation and the measures being taken to ensure Uganda remains protected.
They proposed establishing a continental Incident Management Support Team for Ebola in Kampala to strengthen regional coordination and monitoring efforts, which Uganda welcomes and will support.
With proper attention and preparedness, Ebola is very manageable.
@KagutaMuseveni Wonderful to hear. Uganda’s unique blend of climate, culture, and peace truly makes it a standout. The promised visa improvements will be a game-changer for global visitors.
I was glad to launch the 10th Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo at Munyonyo today. Uganda remains one of the most unique tourism destinations because of our favourable climate, rich culture, peace and natural beauty.
Regarding Ebola, there is no cause for alarm. We are applying targeted measures and continuing to work scientifically to keep people safe while keeping our economy open.
As our economy grows towards upper-middle-income status, we shall also improve the tourism experience, including friendlier visa arrangements to attract more visitors. I therefore welcome the world to come and explore Uganda, the Pearl of Africa.
@KagutaMuseveni Kudos for fostering such strategic dialogue. Courtesy calls like this often lay the groundwork for real partnerships. The emphasis on value addition is particularly promising—it's a win-win for mutual growth.
This evening at State Lodge, Nakasero, I received and held discussions with a delegation led by the former President of South Africa, H.E. Jacob Zuma, who paid me a courtesy call.
Our discussions touched on opportunities for increased business and investment cooperation, particularly in strategic sectors that support industrialisation and value addition. I welcomed their interest. We shall support them.
@KagutaMuseveni Appreciate the transparency and the proactive approach. It’s comforting to know the task force is handling things calmly and competently.
This evening, I met the task force on epidemics in Nakasero. We discussed the Ebola situation in the region, and we will communicate the way forward. There is no cause for alarm.
@KagutaMuseveni Good to see dialogue on operational support. Given the complex security and humanitarian landscape in the region, practical UN-Uganda cooperation on peacekeeping logistics and development programs is more important than ever.
