So far we have published a few articles, including one about Garden St https://t.co/vLDEgwcAWP that @MomentumMag covered, but we are working on some even greater projects. If you are interested in seeing more of this, I'd love your support on this ride!

Bostreal last year is where I met the people that inspired me to expand my project of @BostonBikeData to founding BCU Labs, where a whole group of us are beginning to explore how to better advocate for cycling using data.

This weekend I will be riding to 400 miles from Boston to Montreal, fundraising for @bostoncyclistsunion

I would greatly appreciate and support you can give!
While the free @RideBluebikes memberships during the 2022 Orange Line shutdown boosted ridership a lot, they probably didn't help the Orange line commuters very much. https://t.co/QgOBB5OPNY

@salimfurth@ak47eating Not showing much further back in history is because the project area counts were done when they were done (by the city, not us); showing the full yearly baseline cycle doesn't add to the data specific to this project.
@salimfurth@ak47eating Grey line uses one dataset that starts in 2015 and another that starts in 2011 (though # of BB stations changes over time, so there's yoy growth just from system growth). They correlate nicely, but we thought showing them separately adds noise that takes away from the data.
@salimfurth@ak47eating Curious what type of baselining you think we could or should have done? We are always looking to improve what we do and only just started. We were just using publicly available sources of data, I think we used all the relevant data, but happy to hear suggestions.
Cool chart showing how a separated bike lane increased bike ridership even in winter weather. Fear of cars is a bigger barrier to biking than fear of cold hands...
Shocker... a study out of Cambridge, Massachusetts confirmed that separated bike lanes significantly increase the number of cyclists and reduce driving.

According to a @bostonbikeunion study #bicyclist ridership increased after a Massachusetts city added fully-separated #bike lanes to a half-mile section of #road.

This is an awesome article based on an analysis thread posted on this account last year. Looking forward to working with BCU Labs to continue this type of work!
While the new ebikes make up only 20% of the total Bluebikes fleet they accounted for 30% of all trips since being introduced in December 2023.
Can't wait to see what spring and summer bring! ⚡️⚡️
The rest of the email has some great details on how the city is achieving these improvements through @SomervilleInfr1 improvements and some of the plans for this coming year. Also some data about pedestrian and driving counts that are worth checking out.

Fatal and serious injury crashes are steadily decreasing. Crashes involving bikes have a long term trend down, but increased over last year. However, with the biking rate increasing, the crash rate is decreasing. You can see on the map where the most dangerous intersections are.
