Our entrance strategy at the Charles Mid-Block Crossing looks to build a stronger connection between the Public Garden and the Common. New granite piers, trees, and paving will help create a better sense of arrival into the Common.

Upgrading the park's entrances will create a cohesive sense of arrival to the Common. This report recommends using a kit of parts and specialty paving to create a sense of consistency. Plus, new trees will help fill in the existing canopy!

After listening to constituents, the Master Plan team proposed to convert the off-leash dog areas into an enclosed dog recreation area, increasing safety, reducing maintenance efforts, and limiting conflicts with event areas.

For Boston Common's athletics area, the Master Plan proposes a multi-use field, adds a restroom and storage facility, and provides more seating. Relocating the tennis courts will make room for new basketball courts!
