If you’ve adopted a baby otter, teaching her to swim is non-negotiable. Meet Lola—tiny, curious, and full of trust. Today was her first time in deep water, right in our backyard pool.
At first she clung to the edge, whiskers twitching, eyes wide with that classic “what have I gotten myself into” look. She paddled hesitantly, little paws splashing like she was testing the universe. Then something clicked. In minutes she went full pro—diving, twisting, zooming underwater like she’d been born for it (which, honestly, she was). Her confidence exploded. She’d surface, shake her head with pure otter joy, and look at me like, “Did you SEE that?!”
Watching her go from nervous fluffball to sleek little torpedo was pure magic. Of course it ended with the biggest treat she’s ever earned—fresh fish and lots of praise.Adopting Lola has been the best decision. These moments make it all worth it.
