Brad Stevens said “the path became too difficult with 70% of our cap and such a high percent of our usage tied into two players.”
If the concern was truly financial flexibility, how does bringing in a player like Paul George solve that problem when he is also making a similar level of money? 🍀
The more I look at this trade, the harder it is to justify.
Boston traded a 29-year-old Finals MVP and one of the NBA’s premier two-way wings to the team that just eliminated them from the playoffs. In return? An aging Paul George. 🍀
@sockt2003@FCHWPO Winning championships is the goal but what team is winning a championship every year? We’ve had the most success in the East the last decade. Brad knows what it takes to build a winning team around those 2 players. You remove JB, and Boston’s title window closes. 🍀
Trading @FCHWPO makes no sense!
He’s an NBA Finals MVP, an elite two-way player, and he’s in the middle of his prime. Players with his combination of scoring, defense, and leadership are incredibly rare. Trading him would create a hole the Celtics could spend years trying to fill.
Unless you’re getting a younger superstar who clearly makes Boston better, there’s simply no reason to move @FCHWPO.🍀🧃
It’s hard to ignore the timing.
@FCHWPO publicly called ESPN’s journalism unethical. Since then, his name has been attached to countless trade discussions despite little logical reason for Boston to move an All NBA two way wing in his prime.
I’m not saying every rumor is retaliation, but it’s fair to ask whether some of these stories are being driven more by engagement than actual league intel.🍀
This is the exact shit Jaylen exposes/calls out with ESPN and for some reason Cs fans think he's wrong to do so. Will always be bizarre to me
Now he's an off the court problem? OK man, whatever
Watching the Celtics fan base turn on Jaylen Brown in real time when he’s done absolutely nothing wrong in this entire situation is both baffling and upsetting.
@PolymarketHoops@BillSimmons@FCHWPO Not at all! But why would Boston pay an injury prone Murray $50 million instead of paying JB who is the much better player🍀
@PolymarketHoops@BillSimmons People are focusing on names instead of fit. @FCHWPO gives you size, perimeter defense, shot creation, and lineup versatility. Murray overlaps with what Boston already has, while Cam Johnson doesn’t replace what you’re losing. The roster gets less balanced, not better.
