The session of the Section @AppliBotany_DBG on the Botanikertagung in Bonn 2022 was entitled “Applied Botany for Sustainability”. The talks attracted many scientists, the lecture hall was overcrowded, what a success! The audience challenged the speakers with numerous questions.
Welcome to the tweets of the Section Applied Botany! The German Society of Applied Botany separated 100 years ago from the German Society for Plant Sciences. Only recently the section of @AppliBotany_DBG joint the @PlantSciDBG_en to make both basic and applied science stronger.
Related to the session of the Section Applied Botany @AppliBotany_DBG on the Botanikertagung in Bonn 2022 there will be a special section in the @JAB_FQ. Late submissions related to the topic are still welcome: https://t.co/3MFqg4UuJu.

Twenty different varieties are grown at this coffee farm of the Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala near an active volcano. We felt slightly uncomfortable hearing the volcano roar despite having to wear protective gear. #Coffee#Coffeefarm#Volcano#Guatemala
Some of us, among them group leader Prof. Jutta Papenbrock (center), are currently in Guatemala working on a collaboration within an Erasmus+ project. We’re looking forward to welcoming the first students at the #LuH in the summer semester 2020. #Guatemala#Erasmus#ErasmusPlus

Water shortage as increasingly provoked by #climatechange can be a severe challenge for vegetable production. Schlering et al. @hsgeisenheim show that even a moderate water reduction of 20% affects the chemical composition of field grown red radish. https://t.co/0RL64wSuIY
Schuchard et al. @UniHannover@Botanik_LUH review health-promoting effects of watercress (Nasturium officinale). They grew it in hydroponic culture without reduction in glucosinolates all year long. Testing aquaponic culture with fish will be next. https://t.co/7g1NoiNrdz
