my take for the day - release as much music as you’d like, but when you do, remember that the donkey kong country soundtrack is out there and anything anyone listens to is going to be compared to it. are you prepared to have people make that comparison
@t_paranorm_chic If you speed it up quite a bit, it’s a pretty normal sounding man saying something to the effect of “you’re my best friend and we’ve been through a lot…”
Maybe some kind of rate conversion issue on this person’s receiver.
music is all i know, i often question whether it matters at all, but it matters to me, so… i’ll continue to dedicate my life to sonic exploration & freedom & try to share that with anyone who will listen. sending peace & love to you all.
My producerly advice is to make music that sounds like total shit, don’t learn how to do anything correctly. When you get bored of that, then you take the time to learn. Finally, you can use that knowledge to approximate things sounding like shit when you were innocent/ignorant.
@EdSunspot The inclusion of ‘sextant’ makes complete sense of your work, visually and sonically. There’s nothing quite like that Headhunters-era visual scheme. I can see it in you now, in the best way. (Hope I’m not presuming)
Honest Q for this dead space where it won’t get replies:
Why do ppl hate on Tim Hecker?
Been listening since mid 00s and I’ve always loved everything about him— his steez, his anti approach, the depth with which he talks about art & his own art. Is it because he’s successful?
