Took me nearly 40 years and moving away to finally catch the train in Nashville! Thanks to @BotanyRoger for the encouragement. Here to present to @NatlGovsAssoc on #environmental permitting.
Enjoyed another fall day motoring around the @ShawneeNF yesterday. Also saw some impressive land management at Simpson Barrens Natural Area. https://t.co/2ZejSgo8hT
@LittleMissEsri @naturalareas @MccoyThorunn Great virtual conference and great closing remarks! Looking forward to next fall for in-person conference in Manhattan KS.
Was so honored to give the closing plenary for the @naturalareas conference today, and my friends @MccoyThorunn and @BotanyRoger tuned in and grabbed this shot!
Lovely fall weather this weekend for a canoe/kayak trip along the Wolf River. The section known as the Ghost River State Natural Area is one of my favorite paddle trips in all of TN. And, we had a great group! Thanks to partners @WolfRiverConser@TNEnvironment
Amazing time with colleagues strolling through an old growth shortleaf pine stand. My friend in uniform located and registered this TN state champion. @SLPInitiative@segrasslands @naturalareas
In 2018, this site was a plantation of loblolly pine, not native to this area. Now, it’s dominated by native herbaceous species that thrive after Rx fire. @segrasslands is using this restoration success in an upcoming film. Partners include @TNWildlifeFed@NFWFnews
BIG NEWS! TNC in KY, @nature_tn, and @ConservationFnd have acquired the iconic Fern Lake property at @CumberlandGapNP. This property remains closed to the public for now until a transfer to the park occurs and management plan/infrastructure are in place.

2/2. Another fern for #fern Friday. Otro helecho para el viernes del helecho. Struthiopteris spicant, deer fern o lonchite en Español. @NatureaCant@ValledeCamaleno Lo encontramos por la Ruta de Reconquista.
1/2 Happy #fern Friday. Dryopteris affinis, scaly male fern on edge of Picos de Europa, Cantabria. It prefers moist soils and woodlands, just where we saw it. @ValledeCamaleno@NatureaCant
@ValledeCamaleno Hoy, creo que encontré quitameriendas y azafrán de otoño. ¿Correcto? I think I found both false Meadow saffron and autumn crocus. Both look similar but can be distinguished in these photos
Prior to the #chestnut blight in the US, chestnuts (Castanea dentata) were a popular food source. Although a different species, Castanea sativa nuts are still sold and consumed in Spain.
