We have a really exciting team update to share - Lisa is pregnant! 🎉
"Baby Barr is due in early December, and Jordan (my husband) and I are absolutely thrilled! We are so thankful for all the love and support that we have already received as a family of three. In the weeks to come, we're excited to share updates with you all as our baby grows and develops and as we grow into parenthood." - Lisa
Psalm 139: 13-14: "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." 🍃
18,783 babies were aborted in Scotland in 2025 - the highest ever recorded.
In the latest episode of the Both Lives podcast, Dawn and Lisa discuss the headline figures and ask how will the Scottish Government respond to a system that is failing to support women to choose life for them and their unborn babies?

This tragic story related by André Hanscombe and son, Alex, whose mum was brutally murdered is important to hear, particularly in light of recent articles in the Guardian trying to discredit abortion trauma or regret (for healing see comments).
Abortion affects the whole family!
Every parent should have the option of official recognition for their baby, and the choice to mark their loss in a meaningful way. The introduction of these certificates is an important and compassionate step towards recognising the real grief experienced by parents who lose a baby before 24 weeks of pregnancy. It acknowledges what so many already know: that the loss of a baby at any stage is deeply felt and deserves to be recognised.
At the heart of this is the recognition of life at every stage of pregnancy. We hope these certificates will offer comfort and validation to many families impacted by baby loss.
This week, Dawn is joined by Brian Harvey, a businessman from Northern Ireland. Brian shares his adoption story and together they explore the crucial role that fathers can play in supporting both lives in
pregnancy, pre and post birth.
Also in this episode, Dawn and Lisa discuss the just released Scotland abortion statistics for 2025. They then reflect on a listener comment and a recent conversation with someone who encountered the phrase ‘both lives matter’ for the first time.

The Scotland abortion statics for 2025 have been released. Our question is: Is the current system pro-choice or pro-abortion?
Unlike previous years, Public Health Scotland chose not to include some of the headline figures in their summary report including the overall number of abortions.
- 18,783 babies were aborted in Scotland in 2025 — the highest ever recorded.
- There has been a 55% increase in demand for termination services in Scotland since 2016.
- 'The termination rate in the most deprived areas (23.7 per 1000 women aged 15 to 44 years) was double that of the least deprived areas (12.0 per 1000 women).”
- Approximately 60.8% of all abortions involved taking both drugs at home.
- There were 277 disability-selective abortions in Scotland in 2025 (Ground E).
- 209 abortions took place post-18 weeks gestation.
- In over 40% of cases, women indicated they had previously undergone a termination (self-reported).
How will the Scottish Government respond to a system that is failing to support women to choose life for them and their unborn babies?

It is women who have the biological potential to get pregnant, carry and give birth to children. And every pregnancy involves two lives – the woman and the unborn child.
We believe that progress for women means progress for their unborn children too.
When women thrive, so do unborn children and vice versa. This is an inclusive, creative and compassionate way of thinking about progress and equality. It does not deny trauma, heartbreak or the frightening realities of a crisis pregnancy. Instead, it stands in solidarity alongside women and unborn children in these moments, offering a more humane vision of what it means to be and live together.

These figures are a reminder that the conversations we have around pregnancy, family life, and support for women and children, pre and post birth, matter deeply for the future of our society.
A society where births are falling and the population is rapidly ageing cannot simply be addressed through economics or policy alone. It requires laws that protect both lives, support services that enable them to thrive, and a culture that celebrates life from conception.

Dawn and Lisa also discuss comments from listeners, highlight a new website initiative from the US Government and celebrate a good news story of a baby girl who was born after her mother engaged with abortion pill reversal treatment.

New law means that rapists can no longer have access to children conceived by their crimes.
Both Lives UK lead, Dawn McAvoy responds:
This is amazing news - another baby born! Congratulations to this brave mum and welcome to her baby girl ❤
At least 77 babies have been born in the UK following abortion pill reversal. 77 babies that are alive today because their mothers were given real choice - the choice to change their mind and choose life for their unborn baby. This is what a genuine pro–both-lives approach looks like: recognising the value of both lives in pregnancy - mother and baby.
Every woman deserves access to compassionate care, real support, and the dignity of being truly listened to in moments of uncertainty and change.
In S1E3 of the Both Lives Podcast, we spoke with Dr Dermot Kearney and asked: what is abortion pill reversal? Why was he banned from saving unborn baby’s lives? Is the current system pro-choice or pro-abortion?

I am very pleased to report the birth of another beautiful baby girl in the South of England (early hours 6th May) whose mother reached out & received Abortion Pill Reversal treatment in early pregnancy after regretting she had taken Mifepristone. At least 77 UK APR babies now.
