Historically, under the Botswana Red Cross Society Act of 1968, BRCS was recognised as a branch of the British Red Cross, reflecting Botswanaโs transitional phase at the time. Today, BRCS stands as an independent and fully recognised National Society within the global Movement.
Today, the Botswana Red Cross Society Secretary General and Chief Executive Officer Dr @kutlwanokoks engaged with the @UKinBotswana High Commissioner His Excellency Giles Enticknap.
Dr Mukokomani expressed appreciation for the United Kingdomโs continued support to
- with the Botswana Red Cross Society. He highlighted a shared interest in exploring more opportunities to support humanitarian initiatives, particularly in building resilient communities and enhancing response to emerging challenges.
Flooding in #Botswana has escalated into a major emergency, affecting thousands of people across the Central and North West Districts. In response through @IFRC_DREF, the Botswana Red Cross Society (@BotswanaRed) is scaling up support to reach 5,000 people with emergency shelter, essential household items, basic needs assistance, and health, WASH and protection services over the next six months. The response will also strengthen community-based surveillance, risk communication and disease prevention to help protect health, dignity and resilience in flood-affected communities.
