Mellon has been here before with tranmere and took them up the next season, so he knows how to transition a side from NL to League 2. I'm not saying he will repeat that, but he knows what he's doing in regards to building a side capable of holding it's own in this league.

Its not a matter of money as we've put 2/3 year deals out on the players we believe are good enough or young enough to improve.

We can go out and find better replacements that can take us to the next level.

Kitch and rags were a little older and were only ever going to be average league two players at best, and then decline over the next few years. If we get them on a long deal and they aren't up to it in this league then we are stuck paying their wages.

But now they want us to resign all these very same players after we limped into the play offs and managed to find form just at the right time.

We're in a strong position and in my opinion we're thinking smart for the first time in years.
