Leadership lessons learned : best ideas from all the books, Ivy leagues and 25 yrs of leading people. Still learning.
Wi-Fi businesses solo on the beach = awesome but most of us still lead nonprofits, family, sports teams and businesses.
@BowtiedQueenBee I used a sophisticated app to track health for a year. Learned quickly - one or two drinks at night (promise!) messed up sleep for one or two nights. Really backed down once I saw it.
@BowTiedDaddy Hit farmers market this weekend. Spent an hour talking with three folks. One felt genuine. Bought 1/4. Amazing burgers. Will work on the rest and then buy 1/2. He delivers.
Family owned. Said - richest family in town ($B) uses his filets for all events.
Good stuff.
Part of me pauses to ask - am I naive and taking a values based approach but NGMI? Art of the game requires hurting your own brother?
Or
Stick to my guns?
Appreciate your thoughts.
game of thrones in real life: A $B client plotted to push out family member to set the next generation up. Past month it unfolded.
As the $ grows, ethics get in the way.
I won’t be consulting them further - found a reason to transition out. Do it to family = do it to anyone.

1. Decision making
2. Bounce back and stamina
3. People skills
4. Comfort with risks
5. Strategery
Don’t have to be A+ in them all, but an F in one will hurt.
@BowTiedFord Great post

@BowTiedBroke And hear some justify their residency program vs the exec MBAs.
Some great programs out there but I preferred to hire someone from the school of hard knocks
@BowTiedBroke Couldn’t be more true. We used to hire MBAs from residency as management consultants and hear them brag. Took us 2-3 yrs to teach them about the real world.
Even worse we’re arguments across the team (much time on the road together when not with clients out of town)
Just used for the wrong intentions
I took away - humans have faults. Don’t put your favorite President or Coach on a pedestal
Also helped see that the limitations we all have were a challenge to them too.
Despite that, when history called on them
