Café au CERN
Coffee at CERN ☕
What does the search for the unknown tell us about being human? #AtCERN we endeavour to study some of the #Universe biggest mysteries, an effort that provokes debate, self-reflection; it is a test of strength, belief and hope.
For this #MotivationMonday, watch a clip from the short film “Café au CERN” by director Jeroen Pool, created for this year’s #CERN70 celebrations, which gives us a glimpse into the daily routine of coffee at CERN.

Very happy to announce a project I’ve been working on for the last year.
Behold, The Joe Lycett Slags Vase! An appallingly amateur vase I made after a couple of white wines which has now been painstakingly recreated by hand by Duchess China in Stoke on Trent in collaboration with @theymadethis.
Duchess China are one of the last remaining British potteries who have been creating ceramics for over 135 years, working with the likes of Harrods, Fortnum & Mason, the House of Commons and the King of bloody England. But now they’ve stooped to making a handmade vase for me with the word ‘slag’ on it.
The fully recyclable packaging was produced locally by Pelican, with box design by Rob Wilson. Curation and production by They Made This.
This is a limited edition run of 250, with a certificate of authenticity included for your reassurance and pleasure. All the money I make from it will go to the brilliant charity @ArtsEmergency. They go on sale on Saturday 27th July 2024 to my mailing list. Sign up at https://t.co/pjSVCwhqhu

As well as preserving, promoting and helping to pass on time-honoured craft making skills, an artist-in-residence invitation would provide local companies with the opportunity to be part of the next Andy Edwards ‘made in Stoke-on-Trent’ sculptural story.
