Imagine an era where boxing fans told Juan Manuel Marquez and Bernard Hopkins they’re finished after losing their pro debut or asking Johnny Nelson to retire after losing his first three professional fights. We’re well past that phase of that era in 2026
Please read this in it's entirely. It is long, but I believe you will appreciate it.
Been seeing lately "Boxing is broken"
Yes, that's true, but especially in America.
I've been saying for the last 8 years that "Boxing needs a reset" And it definitely does.
When you have fighter's turning down 3 million, 750,000, & now unknown Albanian Heavyweight Nelson Hysa turning down a huge payday & a World title shot at the WBC World title against the Champ Agit Kabayal. These kind of things were unheard of in prior generations
Most fighter's definitely have a greatly over inflated view of their value to society. And fighter's today spend more time on social media fighting verbally than fighting in the ring. Fighter's need to fight for the top purse being offered, unless they simply don't want the fight. Most times the last possible purse amount is what the Promoter really doesn't want to pay, but he's forced to, just to make the fight. And if they fight wnts a lot more than that, in most cases the fighter is overpricing himself.
Another problem with fighter's, they're all afraid to lose their "0" like the world will end if they lose a fight. I call this the "Floyd Mayweather effect" if you lose & give 100%, you will come right back into a big fight. Example, Teofimo Lopez lost to Shakur Stevenson, & come right back & beat Rolly Romero to win the WBA World title.
Another problem, fighter's nowadays fight so infrequently. That's killing Boxing, & stunting fighter's public awareness to grow as an attraction. Fighters at all levels need to fight way more often.
Fighter's in a lower weight class than they're suppose to be in is causing many top fighter's to miss weight, & causing badly inconsistent performances due to extreme weight cuts. Huge problem.
Another problem nowadays Promoter's need to stop acting like manager's, protecting fighter's like they're the Manager, when in fact Promoter's are suppose to make the biggest & or best fights. If the Promoter is protecting fighter's, the Promoter can't make the biggest & or best fights. The two are in reality a direct conflict of interest, not from a legal standpoint, but from an modus operandi stance.
Promoter's stopped making fights for the fans. They only make fights that suit their own interests. That has to stop.
Another problem nowadays that no one talks about are Trainer's being a huge problem in making fights, many Trainer's being a roadblock to making fights, blocking fights for various reasons. In past eras Manager's solely made the decision on whether to accept a fight. Nowadays the Trainer's play way too big of a role in decision making. And because of that now, many fights get blocked by Trainer's. This is a huge problem.
Another problem, Promoter's need to work together to make the biggest & best fights. DAZN, & @Turki_alalshikh have both worked to greatly attempt to rectify the problem. But it needs to continue, more than ever.
And the State Boxing Commissions & the world sacationing organizations need to penalize judges that turn in a blatantly wrong scorecard. There's oversight, but nothing being done about it. Appropriate action needs to take place.
All these are a great start to a reset. But the only way it happens is if everybody on the Boxing food chain cooperates, & learns to not only coexist, but to work together to make it be the great sport Boxing used to be.
The problem is the business of Boxing gets in the way of the sport of Boxing. And that needs to stop to grow the sport where in fact it has great appeal to the masses again in America. Like it use to be. And that wasn't that long ago. And I remember those days very well.
Shaken by what I found out about peptides in boxing. Some prohibited substances include EPO, HGH, IGF-1, CJC-1295, Ipamorelin, GHRP-2/6, TB-500 and BPC-157. These all basically mimic EPO in some form or another. Welcome to #Boxing 2026 Ya’ll!!
Canelo Álvarez believes he is on a completely different level to Christian Mbilli 👀🥊

Ryuko Ishii just knocked some fool silly! Japanese youth welterweight champion has some serious power, I'd rather see Sora Tanaka fight him then rematch Jin Sasaki
