Check out my new piece on Steve Erceg's defensive flaws and the increasing likelihood that, far from improving, he may actually be getting worse thanks to the UFC's careless, shortsighted matchmaking. Link below
๐ฒ๐Dana White suggests there's more to the story behind the UFC not re-signing undefeated Farid Basharat.
โIf you're 16-0 with seven wins in the UFC and don't get re-signed, there's definitely a reason.โ

@scrunkoelbunko@Gandulla Hooft instills better striking fundamentals across his whole stable than any other coach I know of. He might break your game, same as any new coach, but at least he's got something to replace it with
Wellmaker got a late start in mma and coasted on athleticism all the way to the UFC. Too late to learn how to fight now. I don't say this spitefully; I feel for the guy
@Gandulla I think it's a tough spot one way or the other. Maybe there's a trainer out there who could have worked with him, although most mma coaches don't know shit about boxing. But I think his confidence took a major hit too. That's a bigger problem than any technique/strategy
This lady came flying directly at my chest. I thought an angel of death coming for my ass. Fortunately she tanked my instinctive slap and seems to be doing just fine. We moved her to the zinnias to enjoy a couple moths on the house
@ThisIsNotDSP Guy who's spent his career fighting jiu jitsu players with no wrestling: takedowns don't work. If you try to take me down, I knee your face
@wali_hv@goldenvertices Part of you hasn't thought this through. Fantasy attracts folk of all stripes because it is a deeply human literary tradition. People have been telling fantastical stories for thousands of years
The footwork here is also very nice. Talbott knows how to position himself behind his jab. Figgy doesn't clock the angle change that lines up the right because he's occupied with the left hand
It's all about tempo and initiative. No jab = no time to make more decisive moves
Fig lets Talbott's jab fall just short and spins him around with a kick
A moment later, Talbott steps in with a jab and pauses for a beat, drawing out the kick, before slamming his right hand into Fig's jaw as he's on one leg
Dana White: "Literally, all the guys that cover our sport I block them out of my feed...They're all wrong and everything they say is wrong. It's a waste of my time to even listen to anything they say."
One advantage this Luis Hernandez guy has over Sedriques Dumas (other than fighting ability) is that the UFC will never have to worry about him being arrested for his crimes
