Children are human animals first — and before we can understand behaviour, we need to understand human needs.
Safety. Belonging. Power and control.

Proud to have co-authered this with @joannamoncrieff@JDaviesPhD & Lucy Johnstone.
Calling ADHD a ‘myth’ is misleading. But declaring it simply ‘real’, as though its scientific status were settled, is even more so.

@OctaviaHill86@LozzaFox The issue is that as policy mothers automatically get given housing, which provides an incentive to have children otherwise than in a secure partnership. A better solution would be community based accommodation that provides support rather than individual homes.
Mothers and Fathers bring different things to family dynamics, mothers tend to bring emotional attunement whilst fathers bring leadership and containment which is a natural manifestation of the masculine vs femine polarity we all require to develop into healthy adults.
Reform UK are back parroting Peter Lilley's little list.
I grew up in a single parent household. What matters is the love and care families provide, not their shape or size.
Britain rejected these outdated views in the 1990s, we will do so again.

@cazzrhughes@sp4rkl3jumpr0p3 It doesn’t really matter who made the decision, this is about what is encouraged in our culture to be the norm. 2 parent households are continuously shown to have better outcomes for children.
@sp4rkl3jumpr0p3@JohnSmithhc4c I think you need to be clear. Married men who are fathers, which is usually due to them already being financially able to support a family.
@sp4rkl3jumpr0p3 The way this is written is missleading. Marriage and children are a net cost to a mans finances as he now has to support 2+ extra humans and require extra space to do so at home. The only thing that improves in comparison to the moth is his career, because he is still working.
