@the_addamonator@ShakurStevenson It's all good pal, we all have our opinions and that's part of why I love the sport. If we all thought the same the world would be a boring place. 🥊🦩
It wasn't a dig at Shakur, it was a tongue in cheek post about all the *breaking news* stories regarding him signing for Zuffa. Appreciate it may not have come over that way.
If he makes bank on signing for Zuffa, fair enough. As long as Zuffa are a promotion it changes little. It's what follows after the Ali Destruction Act is signed off that concerns me.
@the_addamonator@ShakurStevenson No confirmation from Shakur, Zuffa, Ring Magazine et al that he's actually signed as yet. He may well do but nothing other than Hearn and the usual outlets desperate to be seen as the ITK of boxing as yet
Some terrible takes on the WBC saying they will sanction Garcia Vs Benn.
"But you all said Zuffa fighters couldn't fight for other belts"
Listen to what Sulaiman said. As long as Zuffa is acting as a promotion and complies with WBC rules then the fights can go ahead. When Zuffa becomes a league then things change.
So if Zuffa try to make this for their own belt too, the WBC will not sanction fights for their belts.
Zuffa suckas trying to put a spin on this are being mendacious.
@Boxing_Tribune Like Frankie Goes To Hollywood getting to #1 with Relax after being banned from Radio One (the UK's main pop radio channel in the 80's)
Well done Paul! 🥊🦩
Yesterday was the anniversary of this very cool fight. Fascinating men and an Ohio connection.
I’d like to write more about it someday, but for now I’ve collected the round-by-round reports from contemporaneous and put them into this appealing (and free) little document.
I like what @alexleboxe is doing with the @SportDeSang Substack page. Not putting it behind a paywall and supporting other writers to learn/practice their craft/hobby and express their opinions on the sport we love. Unfortunately there are so many mediocre pages publishing the same tired old articles that people are reluctant to click the links for fear of being chin checked by a 'click here to read the rest' demand. 🥊🦩
Mickey knows his boxing. Here's something a bit different from the usual boxing articles. He's done his homework and the end result is well worth a read. If you like your boxing feed to be more than just a click bait feed, give him a follow too. You can thank me later. 🥊🦩
Blogger and the traditional blog sites relied so much on SEO settings and Google Ads etc. Often blog sites became unreadable due to ads/pop-ups. I think that as much as anything was the cause of reluctance for many. They are also a bit 'MySpace' in this current era. Although I know a few who get good results from Wix, but they are also pushing out merch, podcasts, services etc.
Dedicated writing platforms such as Medium (which has changed hugely since its Inception and arguably not for the better) and Substack seem to drive more viewers. But I think Substack is becoming saturated now, and people will choose one or two paid subscriptions as the costs soon mount up for any more.
@Duke0fLondon I'll be honest, I've not seen anyone else publish articles directly on X and it's interesting to see you take this route. I hope it helps build your profile as I enjoy your work. 🥊🦩
@Duke0fLondon@WBCBoxing It's farcical. Fury gets #1 after coming out of retirement and going 12Rds with fucking Makhmudov. If Hrgovic was a Brit or an American he'd be #1/2 but money talks...
@Boxing_Tribune Reminds me a bit of the Medium platform. Medium keeps changing the payment structure for writers, in no small part due to AI slop that's posted for clicks and 'reads' en masse.

In a special bonus episode, Jack Hirsch talks to me about his new biography of one of the greatest light heavyweight champions of all time, Michael Spinks. We talk about Spinks' legacy, some of his greatest fights and some fights that never came to pass. Don't miss it! #boxing
