@CharliePat409@mwhiteburgh The initial appeal to PIAA on his semester waiver was not held because it was the day of the game and PIAA had 96 games to handle that day.
Not sure about a lawsuit or their ability to prove Leonard said it. Asked them to contact me if they go forward with anything.
@ByEricThomas@BobGreenburg The District 5 chairman’s only statement was the text in the story. He declined further comment in regard to whether he told Hendershot the kid was eligible.
This is from April 16 2025. The kid was listed but no paperwork, assuming bc he didn’t play then not listed this year
Here is my follow-up story from the Southern Fulton perspective after SF was taken out of the PIAA playoffs with comments from the Indians coach and AD, superintendent, D5 chairman & the PIAA’s Mark Byers
Note: Southern Fulton is the defending PIAA champ

@ByEricThomas@BobGreenburg He transferred to the school in 2025 but did not play baseball last year. Hendershot said he checked with District 5 before this season started. The mom said March 9 and was told the kid was eligible by the D5 chairman.

Bellwood-Antis baseball upsets top-seeded Bishop McCort in the District 6 2A semifinals, 4-3.
There will be coverage of the game in tomorrow’s Altoona Mirror.
Great day #AltoonaProud ! D6 Dean Rossi Sportsmanship Scholarship Hannah Owulade & Colin Etters. Zaelinh Nguyen-Moore both the Blair Count Sports Hall of Fame & PHEAA/PIAA scholarships! Great things happen at Altoona! @AASDSuper@altoonastrength@altoonatrack@BoytimMichael
I took both angles of this photo of the Athletes of the Week because it’s not only the athletes who excelled on the field but the parents who excelled getting them to that point. Everyone should take a bow and be proud of the people they are and the people they helped mold!
A reminder to the Athletes of the Week who are attending tonight’s 21st annual @AltoonaMirrorPA Athlete of the Year Banquet — the banquet is at the Blair County Convention Center this year NOT the Lakemont Casino and it begins at 6:30 p.m.
@StuffSomersSays Thank goodness! Men’s gymnastics was never going to get to that elite level with that other guy! (Note — I have no idea about anything to do with PSU gymnastics)
Not saying McCort wanting to go up to 2A the last two years and then being OK going down to 1A this year and suddenly changing to trying to go back to 2A (and not being successful) is related to BG’s status, but it begs the question.
Interesting to see McCort on the list. They could have been 1A last cycle but chose to stay up at 2A. It looked like BG was going up to 2A but didn’t get enough success points and McCort then tried to once again play up to 2A after deadline but was denied. 1 of 2…
Wow..
PIAA Board amends motion…
The four District 8 schools requests to move up are approved.
The other four schools request to voluntarily move up has been denied. (22-8)
